Default weight of a 2002 trans am convertable

i was looking at the stickers inside the door the other day and it says my car weighs 4316 pounds. is that right? man, this car is heavy. you would think it wouldnt be that heavy with a convertable top and m6 transmission. is that correct or am i missing something.

Around 3600 lbs, generally accepted that the convertible is approximately 120 lbs more than the T-Top cars. The hydraulic motor for the top and the extra bracing underneath the car are what add the extra weight to it.

This is asked over and over, not sure what the big deal is, want a race car, buy a race car...use the search on this site in this section and see how many times this same question gets asked.

Here is at least 20 times when someone asked that exact same question: https://ls1tech.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9700766

True, search is most efficient route to this type of info. But there are lots of guys that don't mind answering the simple questions over and over again.

thanks for all the replies guys. no this aint gonna be a racing car on the weekends and yes i do use the search buttons sometimes but when i clicked your link 99'CajunFirehawk157 it said no matches found too.. the problem with the thing is that it is generally accepted that a vert weighs 3605 but my was 4316 and i didnt know if something extra had been done to it.

if its that big of a pain to answer for ya then dont answer it. i dont know why some folks have to be butt holes about stuff like this. i thought that is what this site is for. anyway. thanks for the explanations guys.

Did you take the time to click the link I posted? It explains what that 4316 weight means and what "GVWR" means.

If you want to know what your car really weighs, get it weighed. Anything else is going to be an approximation at best.

Default Another number

Just to show you how many different numbers are used I looked up the weight in John Gunnell's 'Standard Catalog of Firebird". On page 208 it shows a shipping weight of 3,514 pounds. For you 'hatchback' guys it shows 3,397 pounds.
