Default top latch

Is there anyway to tighten up the convertible (top right) latch? Mine seems to have come loose... Thanks

The hook is threaded and staked with what looks like
an Allen set-screw. Does not appear likely to back
out on its own. You could adjust it by turning it N
times, though.

I think a more likely problem is the bow weatherstrip
having taken a set and no longer giving the hook a
firm resistance to work against.

Thanks, six plus years later. Totally forgot about that adjustment. Much better now.

It's never too late to say 'thanks'. It's nice to see such long time 'vert owners like jimmyblue. Sometimes it feels like you are the only one with an F-body 'vert addiction.

Red face

Well, I have the white vinyl top, and had to back off the threads many turns since the top got so stiff in the cold weather. It is fine in hot weather. I guess the fabric top guys have it MUCH easier...

On another note, my damn top is starting to wear at the stress points above each quarter panel and around the passenger top corner of the window -- the piping is starting to come loose. Not looking forward to the top replacement debacle!

I thought all the tops for our F-bodies were Haartz fabric. Is yours an aftermarket top?

No, factory, but also extremely rare in a white top!

White tops are only vinyl, they would be a cleaning nightmare. I am guessing it is a white car?

I just loathe the day when I have to replace the top -- coming soon... I think I will stay with the vinyl white, it just sucks when cold, but white looks sharp!
