Time consuming isn't it? I can easily spend 8 hours on the car for a full detail, from the interior to the door jambs, to the trunk and engine compartments.

Black vert with chrome wheels - love it! I just upgraded from those chrome 16" wheels to used chrome GM zr1's. Even though they are old and starting to deteriorate, the chrome just pops out! Enjoy, especially now that the top-down weather is here.

Looking good GDL!!!

Now you need to put her out in the sun and share some real pics with us! Garage pics just do not do justice... ;-)

There will be a car show this weekend. And the tonneau cover is coming out that day as well.

I agree about the chrome rims.... I hate 16's but damn the chrome shines.

Good luck at the show. Just enjoy it and don't worry about trophies. Post some pics when you return.

The chrome 16s from the '97-'99 Camaros are nice and yours appear to have cleaned up well, I still have a set in storage myself. I would dump them quick if they were the '00+ version though.

Only 8 hours? You move fast Dave. 12-14 hours is my norm for a complete annual detail on a car that's been regularly maintained at show levels. To bring one back from having been a driver, it would probably be double that time or more.

Well I didn't want to scare GDL too much. Actually I'm more in line with you. It's a labor of love. What a hobby!

I don't want to know the total time spent lol..... I know I hit double digits today finishing the exterior and doing the interior today.

Sadly I'll be honest and barely touched the engine bay since I've only put 800 miles on it since the last time the engine was detailed.

I'm totally torn on the rims. As they sit they are in amazing shape and the tires are fresh. BUT they are 16's.......

If you do decide to keep them, you can make them even nicer with some additional detailing. I noticed in the closeup wheel pic that the recessed area for the lug caps is still a bit dirty. If you remove the center cap, you can better clean the area around the lug caps and the lug caps themselves (they respond well to wax and will darken back closer to their original appearance when waxed.) If you can't get in there with a traditional towel, you can use a soft bristle paint brush for the clean up (plus whatever cleaning solution you prefer) and Q-tips to apply/remove the wax.

Furthermore, if you wanted new caps (which also come with the new lug nut covers built in), you can apparently still get these from GM under a new part number (9592666).

I was torn on keeping these too, as my '98 came with the same wheels. I ended up taking them off, in favor of some chrome SS wheels, at around 12,000 miles and put them in storage. I still like them though, and I'm not really bothered by the 16" diameter, but I do wish they could hold a wider tire like the one-inch-wider SS wheels. Something like a 275/45/16 would look nice and be just about the proper overall tire diameter, but I don't think anyone even makes that size.

You have a very sweet ride! It looks really clean and IMO, the 16s look just fine! I just found some 17s and I am going to pick them up this Friday.

Except the stock exhaust makes me very sad (needs to be louder).

Thanks for posting the pics. Glad you had a good time. I also like my original 16" chrome wheels even though I can't get the Goodyear tires for them anymore. I'm a 'stock' guy who also thinks the factory exhaust sounds just fine.
