slicks and verts
hey guys, ive been told the wheel well on the verts is considerably narrower than a t-top cars..i have never had any other wheels than my current c5 replicas on my car other than the factory ones..with my bfg drags 275/35's on my 18x9.5's i have to use a very small spacer.. i know this is due mainly to the offset of the c5 wheels..my question, i want to know whats the biggest slick i can mount on a 16x8 inch stocker wheel and get away with it..i have searched high and low about the wheel well difference and never really got an answer..any input from you guys with verts and slicks? thanks matt

I have a 315-45 x 17 on a stock 9 inch rim & before anyone says that tire is to big for the rim I know. It fits great & no rubbing & my car is lowered .. cut one coil & removed rubber spacer so it lowered about an inch or little more. What I want to know is how well a 10.5 x 28-15 slick will fit. Does anyone know??

this is what the guy at aaa rims told me when i bought my y2k's..he said that the verts wheelwell were smaller due (obviously) the teh convertible hardware. i have never actually measured but there is a few people running around with 17x11 with the 50mm offset and seems to be working..this is what i want to do so i dont know what the hype is about..if peeps are fitting those wheels and tires w/o spacers..cant be that much smaller..i dont know

The 27's should fit okay, but you will want to check your clearances. I run Hoosier QTP 27x11.5's on a 15" rim and they fit okay. There's a slight bit of rubbing on the inner fender well in the front of the passenger rear tire, but nothing substantial. Basically it's just enough to leave a black mark on the undercoating. My guess would be that it rubs a little as the tire grows throughout the higher trap speeds.
