I just want something that will protect me in case of a rollover. Maybe just a bar that i can still put the top down.

I'm lookin' for a bar too,for protection....I hate the way the 2 rear bars look tho....I'm lookin for like just the main hoop, and the bars that go by the doors, and the crossbar....anyone know if they make that?? or if it would be roll over safe...I might get one made maybe.

A single hoop without extra down bars will not be real strong unless it is welded into the subframe.

There are alot of companies that should be able to build something like that for you.
You should expect something like that to cost around $1500-$1800 plus whatever finish you want.

I disagree. Go buy the wolf main hoop for a convertible, I bought one for $120 , I think. Then just attach I with a piece of roll bar material from a local shop to the main body on the quarter panels. This is not the strongest point but I believe that it will protect you from a roll over. Here a pic of how I did mine.

They are worth the money but they are a pain if you want to install a NHRA legal bar

So how is the bar attached at the bottom? I assume you reinforce the floor pan. When I put mine in, NHRA rules required attaching to the floor pan with 6" plates for reinforcement of the pan, or by connecting to the frame directly.

Is there anything structural where you attached it to the quarter panel? In an accident, it is very likely that in addition to the lateral forces causing you to roll, there will forces parallel to the car. I'd hate to see the bar bent down on your head or be ripped off from the floor where it can injure you from coming loose.

Your car looks great and I'd like to do a single hoop in my next car (assuming mine is totalled) but I am in awe of the amount of force that my cage absorbed, which allowed me to walk away from the accident.

I guess that yours is similar to the RK sport bar for alot less money.

Well I never intended on make it for the track. I did it 50/50 for looks and safety. It is a one piece wolfe craft cage. So you know that the quality is there. As far as attaching it ,, everything is welded to the body, which is a frame in it self. I doubt that it would hold up to a roll over at 160mph but it a vert, Not much would unless it was a full cage to began with. As far as it being like the RK sports bar, thats like comparing a trans am to a yugo. I was told by RK sports when I called that if you pushed down hard enough that it would probably bend. I like the look of it but after hearing that I quickly changed my mind. Hope that helps.

Also Bakushan, The covers are great. if you don't want to take them off all the time. I very rarely take them off so its not a big deal to me. I also have a cross bar installed that I make a hold for them so I could bolt them down, Basically so that stay put and no ones steals them!!

I'm not sure that NHRA has any class that requires a 4pt. I think it starts with a 6pt. Which for us starts at 13.49 or faster.
