Default How rare are WS6 Convertibles?

I was just thinking about this today - I only remember seeing one WS6 vert in person. Are they rare at all? How many were made?

Default Not many

I don't think you will find many just driving around. I have the 2001 numbers handy since I have an '01 T/A and am familiar with this short production year. There were 796 WS6 convertibles produced with 280 being 6speed and 516 automatics. There were only 396 regular T/A's built in '01. The numbers are slightly higher for '02. When you think of these low numbers it is no wonder you don't see many. The '01 numbers break down to about 20 '01 T/A convertibles per state. Start taking away the wrecked cars and the numbers keep getting lower. Adding other model years isn't going to do much for visibility. Just wait until the cars hit the 10 year mark, you will see next to none!

Default I found more

I found more WS6 T/A convertible production numbers for you:

1997 = 463
1998 = 339
1999 = 467
2000 = 1,025
2001 = 796

There were slightly more regular T/A convertibles in each year except 2000 and 2001 where few were made, 783 in 2000, and 396 in 2001. Don't have the 2002 model year numbers handy but there are MORE than 2001 which was a very short production year so that Pontiac could get started on the final year cars. I believe they shut down the 2001 run in May '01.

I'm not surprised at all. Your area on both sides of the border have very loyal GM folks. When I vacation up there I am always amazed at how few foreign cars there are compared to the rest of the two countries.

As far as I know, this is the only Black WS6 'vert in the U.K.

This turns more heads than a top Italian or top German.

As you guy's know, the 'verts are not the fastest of the bunch, but in the U.K., there are very few cars that can come close even.
I can play all day !!
Racked her up to max a few times, pegged the needle with ease.

The irony of it is, I am now in Houston, on a work secondment,
Well, my T/A is all tucked up, good and warm and dry.

have been thinking about taking a set of 19 wheels and tyres back, as they are third of the price here in Houston.

I've got the 2002 Numbers handy they are rare, but not as rare as some of the color options. I believe my Red T/A A4 is one of 114 and if I had the M6 it would be down in the 50's.

Ther rarest WS6 'vert of all? In '98 Poncho produced TWO WS6 Formula 'verts - for promotional purposes so the story went at the time. It's been awhile now since I had my '98, so I don't have the printout on production numbers anymore. But I still remember those lonely two WS6 Formula ragtops listed as part of the total production numbers.

Here's the '98 numbers showing those 2 red WS6 Formula 'verts.

I've never seen pictures of either of these two cars, one w/ a black top, the other white, one w/ a M6, the other w/ A4. I've always been curious as to which car had the M6, the one w/ the white top or the one w/ the black? For some sexist reason, I'd bet that the car w/ the black top had the M6.
