Default How many of you leave your vert outside during the winter?

I'm living at an apartment complex that doesn't have a garage for the tenants, so basically every morning I walk to my car and it is covered in frost. It's been dropping between 20-30 degrees at night. I'm curious to see how many of you leave your car outside and keep the top looking good year after year. I read the sticky at the top of the forum but I'm just looking for any other pointers you guys might have. I'm debating taking the car back to my parents house and just parking it in the garage and driving the Mustang around until the weather warms up.

Mine also rests in a garage. Its also heated and cooled which helps it stay like new. I understand you guys who have no choice but to leave it outside. When I was in high school with my 82Z, there was several times it had a foot of snow on top of it.

Default Quality car cover

That is a terrible predicament during the winter months. Investing in a quality 'waterproof' car cover would pay huge dividends in the long run as long as you have a place to stow it when you drive. That might cause another dilemma.

I left my old 94 Z28 Convertible out in the winter when I had it. I can remember driving down the road, and reaching up and punching the top and seeing snow fly off the top behind me.

Best idea I've ever heard. Run the 'stang into the groud and keep the f-body pristine.

(I keep mine tucked away inside)

You poor Yankees. I feel for you. But , I guess something keeps yall up there in all that mess otherwise most car crazy guys would have packed up mother & the kids & moved down here where the weather is more suitable for car enthusiast.

Damn and I was complaining about a little frost, that really sucks. Yeah I talked it over with the folks and they're letting me keep it in the garage. The Mustang will pull winter duty this season.

Let me throw another question out there to you guys, for those of you who do leave your car outside, how many years did you go before having to replace the top?

Mine stays outside. I have a garage but it's got my old vette on one side and the mower and other crap on the other. My top is about five years old now and it doesn't leak or have any tears or holes, but there are spots where the tan color is gone, so I plan on replacing it in the spring.

dude, sorry to see your situation, when i leave the rec, my top is usually frosted over so i understand your concern. Your car is really nice and may be it wouldn't be a bad idea to drive another car until it warms up. covering it isn't a bad idea either, but it is easy to leave the car uncovered sometimes. what would you be more willing to commit to?

Mine gets to live outside. Not my choice, I might add. Not what I'd prefer for such a glorious vehicle, but it copes as best it can. It's my DD, so it has plenty to put up with anyway.

Some what has bad as winters up north is the summer down south! Sorry to say, mine sits outside too, covered by a f/h cover and its suppose to get its own carport but the installers can't come out because we get a monsoon rainstorm almost every freaking day, from one weekend to the next, my chrome rims have slight surface rust
BTW-Last house we sold in January had a 2 car garage that never had a car in it just junk for three years....now I have a car and no garage, buts that ok, I still have the car
