The last 6 digits in the VIN, as was said, is the plant build sequence number. Since all 4th gen Firebirds and Camaros were built on the same line at the same plant, this would be the sequence it came down the assembly line behind all other Camaros and Firebirds for that model year.

Contact Jim Mattison at Pontiac Historical Services, for Firebirds. He'll have a copy of the original invoice which should tell you the exact date of manufacture. There's a fee for this service, but the wealth of info he'll provide is priceless. If your car was originally sold new in Canada, GM Canada, in Oshawa, through their Historical Services Department, can provide the same info, also for a modest fee. Also, the origin sticker on the driver's door will give month/year...
