Thumbs down Rear Window

The rear window is coming loose, there is a 12 inch gap in the top where the window is separated from the top. What can I do?

When & if mine goes I'll be replacing mine with a much more durable vinyl top & back glass . The white top on my Stang GT was over ten years old when I sold it & people used to ask me if it was a new top all the time .

Mine did the same thing..

The glass will eventually come all the way out, and just hang by the defroster wires..

BEEN THERE and DONE that

Yep you can do the temp fix right now but might as well start saving for a new one.

i had my back window shatter last winter. after letting the car warm up i went to get into it and before i even touched the car i heard a pop. looked around and didn't see anything, then got into my car and saw the back window. it was still held together because i guess there was some clear tint holding it together. i think the heating element got too hot.
never have had a problem with it coming loose though.

I had a buick century window just "shatter" like that all of a sudden for no apparent reason.

My defroster tab on the passenger's side broke off in less than 2 years. I put it back on with one of those adhesive kits. It broke off again in a month. It has stayed that way for 7 years.

Now in the pocket where the top sits, on the hump, when the top is down, I am seeing flakes of plastic more and more in there. Looks like tape or something that dried and fell off.

Oh and another thing. Where one of the bows touches the back glass when the the top is down, it has rubbed a blurry spot on the glass over the years. Its about two 'lines' down from the top

the only reason i could think of it happening is the defroster malfunctioned and got too hot. there was a definite line right through the middle where they connect to the window, then spread out from there.you can see it in the video, ignore the commentary, it was early and was still a lil tired. luckily the owner before me had the windows tinted and there was a clear tint on the back so it didn't fall into the car.

My rear window shattered the same way the one posted there did. Winter time in FL *not that cold* and it shattered with the defroster on. Dealership replaced it under warrantee and told me it was a 'malfunctioning defroster'. I've had my rear glass replaced 3 times in total twice for the seals going out and once for the shattering.. and its falling out again (bad seals along the top of the glass). Im sick of it. Right now its held together with some black 3M cloth tape. I just keep reapplying it when it starts to peel off. Cant afford a new top right now.

The polyurethane adhesive you get at auto glass shops
will do the job if you get the surfaces clean enough. It
takes a knife to get that stuff apart.
