Default LS1 T/A Convertibles Unusual Birds

I so rarely see LS1 T/A convertibles (even when I go down to Atlanta or FL) I finally tallied up the numbers from 1998 and found approximately 10,000 built over the 5 year span of production. Just using averages of 2000 per year (some years were way less, like in 2001) that means only 40 per state were sold each year on average (cold weather states of course will be less than warmer states). That is very few! With accidents and normal attrition over the past 10 years no wonder they are rarely seen other than in meets or car shows. Ever wonder how many of the approximately 10,000 are still around?? The 2002 yellow 'collector editions' seem to have all been put away it seems. This sure beats owning the typical convertible you see almost every day of the week.

Right on, in 99 (when GM had that strike and production was a standstill) they built 5007 WS6's; 1500 of them were for the Annv. edition and only produced 200 verts. To this day, I have never found another '99 WS6 Pewter Vert. 99 was the first year for Pewter on the TA's and the first batch they junked because the paint was s*it. Took 11months and 1 day from the day I ordered mine....wonder if it's a one off rare ....

I dont see many either. Its kind of weird but most of the convertibles that I do see are the 30th anniversary ones for some reason.

My 2000 is the only NBM TA ragtop I've seen with both M6 and tan interior.
I think it's going to be a keeper.

Never really considered it before but now that I think about it I've seen a few TA convertibles out and about, but it's rare that I come across another WS6 convertible.

I enjoy my 01 WS6 M6 Vert. I don't see too many around where I live either. Mine is a pretty common color though...Black, Black and More Black.

I have a feeling you could wait a LONG time before seeing one in that combo drive by. I'm in the same boat as most of the reds seem to have been built with black tops and ebony interiors.

I scouted patiently for months before I found an 01 WS6 6M red/taupe top & interior. Too bad there is no info on production of colour combos for these years, but my best guess (judging from the camaro #'s) is that the tops & interiors are 90% black, 9% taupe, 1% white.

My buddy called me up yesterday and ask me to meet him to look at a car for sale here in Shreveport. It was a 99 T/A WS6 vert, pewter/black top 71,000 miles and he got it for $8,500. It was in damn good condition too. Do ya'll think he got a deal?

Personally, unless there is something unforeseen that is very wrong with the car, I would say he got a great deal.

Post up some pictures! Auto or M6? I would say he got a great deal. I have a similar car (Red M6) and it would take close to double that before I would let it go (willingly)...

That sounds about right. It is a shame there is no color breakdown for 2001. I tried so hard with numerous calls and followups to GM and it always just led to the basic 396 T/A's and 796 WS6 T/A's convertibles built. One internet site somehow obtained manual/A4 numbers and a few options like 3.23 rear ends, but that's about it. It seems GM was so anxious to shut down 2001 production in May '01 to get ready for the final 2002 production that no one bothered to keep track of what was rolling down the line.

I would love a vert ws6, but since they seem to be in short order... looks like I will stick to vettes, and buy a c5 vert instead.

The list I posted says in 2002 only 11 Trans Ams came with a white top PERIOD... A black TA with white top and interior would surely be a one of one, if it was even made, in 2002... I don't know the 1999 numbers, but I think it's one of a kind! Sweet!

Where in FL do you have this car?

I'm in Safety harbor.

From the documentation It appears to have been a special order in Naples Fl...
I bought it because it had 100% options and I had never seen any like it. I did catch a Firebird with a white top that scared me but it wasn't a TA...
I do think I have one of the few if not the only one with this color combo from the factory . It's the same as the 30th without the embroidering and badges.
