Default why no kenne bell setups?

After going through pricing out a heads, cam, fast, nitrous setup, I think I'm just going to go back to the FI world for my C6. The Kenne Bell system seems to be the no brainer on paper. Why is no one using it?

I'm guessing the ProCharger's for the C6 are a lot more efficient and they come with an intercooler..

Every C6 that is blown, is usually procharged. Maybe easier to install...just guessing.. But those Prochargers wake these C6's up...

Some people dont want to change their hoods for the KB. But i think the low end TQ from a twin screw blower cant be beat. I LOVED my 2.3L whipple on my old lightning. If i wanted to go FI i would really consider the KB kit.

The kenne bell has an intercooler too. I can see the hood reason I guess, but a new hood would look cool IMO. I also know the bigger KB can make well over 800rwhp and it does it a lot sooner than the procharger. I just don't like the idea of having to be at 6K to get the big power. This is just a fun weekend car for me. I saw pricing earlier in the year that had the wholewhole setup plus hood for like 6k shipped. Looks like I'll have to start lookin

I think it's mainly price. Isn't the KB kit substantially more?

If I ever go FI I'll be looking at kbs.

I don't know much about S/C setups for these cars but back in the Mustang world the centrifugal setups were substantially cheaper than the twin screws. You could piece together a centri setup for under 2k.

With it's probably lower cost, and the fact it's easy to install(procharger setups don't require you to tap the oil pan) most people probably go with it.

I've been doing some research and the twin screw is very near in price to the centrifugal. The vortech is the only one that requires you to tap the oil pan. KB is self contained. Waiting to see what a sponsor will do on a 2.8 KB and an RK Sport hood

I have an 03 cobra and I know that twin screws are about half the price as a centri. I can get a 2.3 whipple for about 3k where the procharger kit is something like 6500, KB usually run closer to 4.

It's a completely different story on the 03-04 cobras. The reason you can get a whipple for $3k is because you only need the compressor. With a centri you are buying a whole kit with piping.

Looking at the vettes, you are paying for the intercooler and such either way so they will be more similar in price.

I think also with a kb it is going to be harder to get traction because of all the low end torque so even though you may make similar power, if you can't control the spin you will not be as fast as a centri which would be easir to keep stuck to the ground at a similar power level.

That being said, I think a KB would be more fun.

HE HE..been following a thread about this on another forum for a while now.. they are still in the R&D stages of the kit for the C6... here is the link to the thread.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ouncement.html

Hope this helps some.. I had a procharged C6 in the past, but I would have gone with a KB if it had been available at the time.

KB says they have them, they only sell direct and the RK Sport hood is included. Strange you say they aren't ready. They are still working on the Z06. Thinking about jumping on one and putting half on a 0% credit card. They say 570 at the wheels with 7psi and have sheets showing it. I'm sure I can work out the traction issues. If nothing else Z06 quarters and 12 inch Nittos. I'm sold

What kind of power are you making? Still on a 10inch tire?

Look into ECS or A&A Corvette.... both have intercooled centrifigals on sale. Can make over 600 rwhp with their kits. I know A&A was selling his kit for just over $5k....

I don't know that the KB is ready for the C6 yet???

Not listed on their website anywhere for sale. It is possible they just finished the kit up, but last I checked a few months ago they were not ready.

I will put it this way. There is a Kenne Bell C6Z06 being built right now. Just hang on.

As far as me I put down 560 on a stock motor and my 383 is in as soon as I get my electrical figured out.

That's what I'm talking about! With a built 383 that thing will be nasty. Obviously you found a way to put the power down on a 10 in. tire.

No not yet and it will be fun trying to though. Slicks are the only non-street option. 355's are the street option.
