I remember when this happened. They blew a tire at over 200mph during testing and was able to slow it down and pull over without too much damage to the car. The even drove it from CT to the track with the AC on. First run netted 23xmph so they had to work out some bugs. After the run they drove it back to CT. I highly doubt anything today can do this.

i read about it in hot rod magazine like 10 years ago i think, it was one of my uncles old hot rods and i think it still got like 19mpg or something like that.
