Default What DR do you have on 10.5 wheels?

Ok my issue is Traction.
I have a FRC with 10.5 stock ZO6 wheels.
What I want is a great Drag Radial Tire that will Hook and give me atleast 4,000 miles of use. I will be runnin the tires for the street not the Strip, I have ET Streets for that. I have been considering the BFG DR but hear they are over rated and dont last long at all street driving. I also see alot of people run the NITTO555, I hear good and bad. Input on tire and Pics of tire on 10.5 rim would be great

Great pics. that helps. People say the Nittos fit narrow. They dont look narrow on your rims? What are the DR in the pics?

Nittos do run small, bfg run big. Check out the new toyo DR. Real nice tire. Also dont be afraid of not having the widest tire on the rim as possible. I use a 235 DR made for VW bugs on my mustang and hooked better than my 315 nittos DRs i also ran. Its also about weight per area. In the right areas....

I had 17" 315 Nittos on my SS, they were maybe 295's. But I agree, those 18" 305's look wide?

Those Toyos loook good. I have Nittos on my car now. I will say they will hook up because I broke my drivetrain on the streets with them. Bad part is I get alot of wheel hop at the track with them.

The nitto's hook very well when new. When i first had them put on, they hooked 500rw in first on the street. After a few track passes and street miles (around 7k) they are pretty slick. I am now back to no traction till 3rd, but for the first 5k they hooked well, and i did go to the track twice in that time period with around 3 runs each.

I had good luck with nittos on my Z28. They did ok in the rain for the first 6,000 - 8,000 miles. If I changed wheels to 18", I'd probably run the RII's on the vette to retain a bit better cornering compared with the straight drag radials.

In my opinion the Nitto DR does well on the street after a few miles to get some temperature in the tire, but isn't worth a **** at the track unless you get them good and hot. I wasn't able to heat them enough I guess, so that explains my shitty times. LOL, gotta blame someone.

I had the same problem my first time with them. I learned that If I didn't see smoke in the rearview mirror during the burnout, then they're not hot enough and keep burning them until I saw a decent cloud.

I've had the Nitto 555R in my Camaro too. Great tire for the street, not so good at the track.

This tire

Is BAD-***! But will not last as long as the Nitto.

I run 315 BFG dr's on my 10.5 wide z06's with no problems, and they hook pretty good.Wont recommend driving them in any type of wet weather tho, and the threadwear sucks.
