Default Does anybod make C6 headers that work with the stock cat-back?

Does anybody make a set of C6 headers, preferably stainless, that bolt up to the stock exaust system?

I need to take out the stock exhaust manifolds and put in headers that bolt up in the exact same place, I think to the midpipe.

I am swapping an LS1 into a Jaguar, and the C6 cast iron manifolds almost fit. If I can rotate the flanges 90 degrees, they will be perfect. Cast iron is very tough to weld and I figured that if I got a set of tubular mild or stainless headers, it would be much easier to cut off the flange, rotate it 90 degrees, and weld it back on.

Thanks! -Dave

My LG's are hooked into the stock C6 exhaust. Just slip on and tighten the band clamps.

Convertible Jag?

Do they bolt directly onto the stock exhaust system in the same place that the old cast iron manifold did? Long tubes won't help me - I need a header that has the flange in the same place as the cast iron manifold.

The car is an XJ6 sedan, so no convertible. Hopefully it will have some ***** though.

No, I believe the the headers are longer than stock manifold (O2 extensions are used). Also the factory H-Pipe is replaced by an X-pipe, but no cutting was needed to hook up to the pipes going over the axle to the mufflers.

Oh well. The interior of a convertible jag with the reliability and power of an LS drivetrain would be a sweet combo. Good luck with your project.

Sounds like you should be asking if there is a header that bolts up to the stock mid-pipe, not the stock cat-back.

Most longtubes will come with an X-pipe that connects right to the stock cat-back.

Thanks, I think the mid-pipe is more accurate.

Thanks for checking out the website - it's gotten pretty long... I am going to make a new one when I get some time that will cut out some of the boring stuff and use a cooler interface.

I did want to do a turbo setup, but I doubt it's going to happen. For now, I just want to get it running and start working the bugs out of it. I am still using the low-comp shortblock (8.5:1) so it will be perfect for a supercharger. Magnusen has some nice Eaton-based kits that will fit under the hood of an F-Body and a GTO. I would like to go that route once I get it running and get some more cash scraped together.

Right now though, I just want to start driving it and enjoying it.

Yea, but I prefer not to reinvent the wheel. Good header parts are expensive to build and time consuming to build. If I can buy a set of stainless headers for $400 and only spend an hour cutting off the flanges and rotating them, I am ahead of the game.

Thanks for the info. Those Callaway shorty headers are like $1,350... wow. It doesn't look like any of the mainstream affordably manufacturers make them. I will probably wind up modifying a set of cast iron manifolds or trying to squeeze the cast iron manifolds into my chasis.

Have you looked into F-Body shorty headers? Those would be a lot less and might fit.

I'll have to check out the F-Body shorty headers. The F-body manifolds stuck out away from the engine bay way too far and dumped too much towards the rear, and weren't even close. My engine bay gets narrower as you head towards the back of the car.
