C6, C6Z or ZL1
Okay well im looking for some input on what car i should get out of the three.
The C6 is a 2006 and has a recently built 402 putting about 550 to the wheels with no expense spared on the internals that also has the ZR1 widebody on it for 35,000, or a 2008 to 2009 ZO6 that can be had for 50 to 60,000 or of course the new camaro ZL1

An automatic ZL1 with a converter, pulley upgrade for more boost, headers, a tune and maybe a diet might hang pretty close to the others. And then you have a new car. I would go for the ZL1 but wait until the 2013 model.
The 2006 for $35K will probably run very good but then again it's a 6 year old car.

Thats what i was looking at is the value. Right now i have a 02 SS w/ H&C and have thought about just building it but again its a 10 year old car. The 06 is my dads car and runs great, like probably a 10 sec car if i had to guess but its still just a base model and i know a Z06 will hold its value better

I would go the C6 Z06 route and never look back. With a CAI, headers, tune the C6 Z06 will put down 450rwhp+ with ease. At 3200lbs that means the 4100lb ZL1 is going to need alot of work and HP to overcome that weight.
More so if you are on the track at all. Lighter is better in the end, plus the Z06 brakes are a better setup over the Zl1 as well.

well i am torn between my dads 06 and a Zo6, i have always been a camaro guy but i really dont like being beat especially if i fork out 55 to 60 grand for a ZL1 and get beat. I know the 06 will easily outrun a Zo6 and looks like a ZR1 but in the end its still a C6

I thought I'd miss it when I went from my 2006 Coupe to the Z06, but windows down and listening to that 427 engine with the exhaust butterflies open will make you forget about it real quick.

I really wanted a Z06, just could not get over the price jump right now with being in school. Maybe once I graduate here in a couple of weeks and hopefully can find a position in my company that i can get an interview for and get offered a position I can think about the Z06 down the road.
In the end either the C6 or Z06 will be worlds ahead of the Camaro. The heftyness of the Camaro is it's real downside as of now.

Z06, C6 then ZL1 is my order. The ZL1 is a lot of hype but in the end it will be too heavy to be a great performer. The GS is just about as fast as it so the Z06 is faster. The only way I would get the ZL1 was if I had to have a back seat. I was a Camaro guy through and through until I owned a 5th gen. For 55k it's over priced compared to a used Z06.
