Default C5 z06

I recently purchased an 02 c5 z06. I went run the car (after owning it for a day) i ran a 12.8 @ 114 on the original eagle f1s 30psi with a borla cat back. Air was in the 80s and very humid southern LA. Since then i have done a set of headers x-pipe, vararam intake, and tune. I will run the car again soon on some nt05rs. Was wondering what i should expect from the car now.

Also do other c5 z06 owners notice that the front seems to have an excess amount of brake dust on the front wheels. I understand that there will be more than normal, but my wheels are almost black.

All depends on launch. Assuming you can get into the 1.9-2.0 range on street tires 11 seconds will be possible. See sig to see what it's capable with mineshaft air and a good set of tires .

Fronts will leave dust after a short drive, that's normal. They came with good pads, which will leave brake dust.

Also i will add that with more power it can be more difficult to effectively put it to the ground without spinning, i'd suggest a drag radial to avoid any wheel hop that sometimes occurs with street tires.

12.30@116 mph would be my guess. I've learned not to set high expectations that way there's no disappointment.

I'm hoping for 12.1s 12.2s, which i know is very possible. I went 12.8 @ 113 on street tires in my bolt ons fbody in the cold air. So with tires on the vette i think its very possible i can get low 12s out of it.

My friend had a stock with batwing filter 03Z a while back. We took it to the track at Gulfport MS one summer night on some 18" bfg's. I had never driven a vette before, let alone tried to race one but I turned a 12.4 and he was able to get a 12.1 out of it before the night was over.

The tires will help but the biggest thing is knowing how to drive your car on the track. If I remember correctly, we left at about 3K and slipped the clutch out as opposed to straight dumping it. Don't try to no-lift-shift it, vettes don't like that with the trans in the back and linkage to the shifter. Bad mojo happened to another friend of mine trying.

Good luck and post the results. Congrats on a vette fellow z owner.

I had never driven a vette aside from my dads C6 so that was a big factor, and the tires just plain suck, it broke loose on the hwy at 60 yesterday. I didnt want to launch it hard and have never tried no lift shifting anything. But i feel im getting better with the car. The 12.8 run was my 2nd run an my first was a 12.9. The tires are so old i didnt want to test my luck and have one blow out at 100 mph and total my new car. I have drag radials and a good set of front tires on the way. And im hoping the weather will cool off before the next time i run it.

My 02 Z06 went 12.16@117 with a 1.74 60'. Completely stock other then BFG drag radials. I don't recall the DA, it was an average Fall night, maybe +1000'. This was the first time out in the car. I wouldn't even try to run on the stock tires. I by far am not that great a driver either.

If you're not running road courses, I found the Carbotech 1521 brake pads to be excellent with very little dust. What dust there is is pale gray and non-corrosive so it doesn't tear up your wheels. Braking is excellent!
