Default Torque Tube for Dummies

Just trying to understand. Please add or correct me if I am wrong.

Upgrading the Torque Tube on my C5 will not add power as measured by the dyno but it will help get the existing power to the ground and thereby add "seat of your pants" or realized power.

??

I dont know but I'd guess maybe stiffer transfers power more efficiently

Upgrading the rubber bushings/biscuits with billet ones is a popular upgrade I have heard of before. Less driveline flex and more power to the ground. As for upgrading the entire tube I am not sure if anyone does that or not.

That makes sense as well. Probably cleaner and cheaper than replacing the whole thing. It was my understanding that there are upgrades to the entire tube.

The factory torque tube has two composite bushings, with metal inserts...joined by bolts..6 on top, 6 on bottom(front/rear).. over time and street use...they start to deteriorate. Sometimes, pieces can actually go through the aluminum housing of the torque tube. Sometimes, these pieces can actually cause the bolts that held them together to bind/fold over and snap or shear. I have had the couplers go bad....and I have also sheared bolts inside the torque tube, on the driveshaft, with good couplers(got torque?).

Anywho...here's a couple pics of what can happen to stock ones.....

...and the upgrade(badass aftermarket COMPOSITE couplers are available instead of the solid billet pieces that I run).

That helps A LOT!! So a key piece in not having as much lost power from fly wheel to ground, correct?

So you mean get the power to the ground quicker? I doubt you could measure the difference.
You should ask this on the Corvette forum.

Upgrading your torque tube will do nothing for power , either seat of the pants or dyno, or MPH at the track. What it will do is withstand a higher level of torque before failing.

No seat of the pants huh, won't deliver the power any more efficiently or at least not enough of a difference to feel seat of the pants? Ok, thank you for the reply!!
