"The 1971 C3 Corvette rolled out with a 454-cubic inch engine capable of 425 horsepower, a huge engine in a lightweight, aerodynamic car. The horsepower rating is remarkable considering the 2020 C8 Corvette is pushing 495 horsepower, a close gap between performance considering nearly fifty years of technological advancement between the C3 and the C8."
Not sure who wrote this but have you ever driven any of those old "425hp" vettes or camaros? Cause I have and idk where they came up with the ratings but there'd be lucky to put down 225hp on a dyno today. They were painfully slow with tons of tire frying torque.
I don't think the Corvette has ever been a muscle car, given that it was always built to handle, it's far more of a sports car. And I think the General went the right way here. The company wanted to attract a new section of buyers, and it looks like it worked, given that the first year is already sold out. I can't wait to see the performance tests!
