Default Newest Issue of Motor Trend, '05 Z06 tested

Does anyone have this article? My store is currently sold out, and Im trying to prove to my buddy that a '05 Z06 will outgun a Mercedes SL65 that costs more than 2x as much. The only thing I remember from the article was that the '05 Z06 ran 11.7@127mph, can someone post any other information, such as skidpad and 60-0 stopping distanace? thanks

Yeah, I dont think its really a 'test' its more/less a review of whats new on the car. I havent read the article yet, so I dunno if it is a test or not, but I'd say an 11.7 is about accurate through all the preliminaries so far. And for the most part, it should be able to take out the SL65 in acceleration and 1/4 mile, and even outhandle one...so tell your buddy to get off the Benz wagon, and hop on the Bowtie express

I have the rag but it's at work. I do know that it is the nail in the coffin for the Viper and Ford GT as the American Muscle Car Champ. They compare it against the Enzo ($600,000.00) and the Enzo barely out does the new Z06.

Speculation is, that it'll do mid to low 11's. some bone stock C5 Z06's are in the high 11's allready.

I think it say's estimated 1/4 time, but I'll bring mag home and re-read. If I remember correctly it says they won't get their hands on one untill summer for testing.

I read the article and the fact that the car they had was one of four test mules, was outfitted with a roll cage and probably not close to what you will be able to buy , I blew it off.

Are we talking about an 06 C6 ZO6? Everyone keeps saying 05. ??? The new C6 ZO6 should really be safely in the mid elevens at over 120mph. 0-60 will run under 4 seconds. I'll try to find the new video and paste the link here it's awesome! http://autoshow.aolsvc.edmunds.com/n....leftnav.39.*#

Those numbers were provided to the magazine by General Motors. I'd be willing to bet they are accurate.

If the car is that fast already what would a track require you to add as far as protection? What point is it that a cage is required?

High 11s? I dunno about that. There is 100% stock 02-04 z06s running 11.9s. I think with the weight and the hp of the new vette with the 427 it will get high 10s with a good driver. Its not unheard of for a 427 in a camaro (alot heaver) to run 10s.
