Default Bone Stock C5 Dyno/Track Numbers

Anybody know what bone stock C5's dyno at (m6 and a4) and what they run in the 1/4 mile?

I've never actually seen any data. I'm curious to see if I can hang with an unmodded or slightly modded 'vette. See sig for my numbers. I plan on getting Nitto's soon so I think I might be able to break into the 12's.

See sig. Hot weather 1100' altitude. Mods = tires.

I've seen a 98 convertible C5 run 13.3s at 105 all day long, it was an A4 with 3.15 gears, and completely stock right down to the tires and paper air filter. Weather was in the mid 60s with low humidity and good air. The driver was a beginner, first time racer (and it wasn't even his own car, his friend lent it to him to detail it)

Since C5's and f-bodies both have the LS1, why does it seem that the 'vettes are quicker (and faster for that matter)? Is it in the drivetrain?

Vettes are lighter and more aerodynamic, which makes the mph higher.

Mine is about 3100 when I race with less than 1/4 tank of gas. Thats without the driver.

My '99 Hardtop made 309 and 320 Rw corrected when first dynoed at 1500 miles back in August of '99. I had removed the MAS screen and the factory airbox cover by then, though, so she wasn't bone-stock but those are very near average numbers for a bone-stock '99 IMO.

when I took her to the track the first time shortly after I got a best pass of 12.83 @ 111 MPH w/ a 2.103 60' time in warm and humid conditons at HRP. The majority of the night I was running 13.0-13.1 @ 109-110 MPH w/ more 2.1 60' times when I got a decent launch method figured out...I was dumping at 1500 and feathering instead of a soon to be realized, more effective 3000 slip. Race weight was 3355. After a couple more outings I was able to get my 60' times down in the low 1.9 second range which would've been a big bonus during my first outing...coulda, woulda, shoulda...and by that time I had a UD crank pulley, a Donaldson and a B&M Ripper installed in the car

I truly believe that a bone stock MN6 C5 is capable of running 12.7-12.9s consistently in decent weather at sea level with a good driver who can get sub 2.0 sec. 60' times.

Damn those are good times Cemo. I want to break into 12's on stock tires with the mods I have now which consist only of a lid and cat back. Free mods too. 13.2 is good for an A4 I guess. I need to get rid of my car and get something with a MN6.
I've been considering an '03 Cobra, but I'm not sure if I can afford it. I'm not too big on Ford either however I do like lots of horsepower

From what it sounds like, I don't really stand a chance against a stock 'vette with a good driver.

Thanks man....well, if it's any consolation I've already broken my tranny twice because I powershift the crap out of it to get good ETs...well worth it in my deranged mind Hehe

To my knowledge 13.2 is a very good time for a lightly modded F-body A4 such as yours. I haven't been around to many A4 F-bodies, though. You could really make it a serious street/strip performer with a good converter, gears and tires. You prolly know that already, though.

The new Cobra is a real consideration, mainly because of all of hype it's producing right now, but one that would have to be solidified with some liberal test driving time if that's even available right now. Especially, since the poor performance record for the top end Mustangs of recent years. You gotta know that they patched up the dismal performance with that blower instead of getting the car to run as it should NA...I dunno...I gotta check one out in person. I don't even know what they cost Sounds like a lot for a Mustang...

Yeah, a well seasoned drag racer in a 6-speed C5 can be an impressive combination. A good power:weight along with some real skills behind the wheel works nicely

Bone stock I ran a 13.0 at 106 or 107. This was at seal level on a 50 degree day. I can't wait to race again under those conditions with my current mods.

Thanks for all the replies guys. When the weather cools down, maybe 60 degrees or so, I'm going to hit the track one last time for the year. I truly believe I can cut a 1.9xx 60' on these stock GS-C's. I want to try to either get a 13.0 ET or break into the 12's, like I said. I think taking a very lightly modded A4 LS1 to high 12's is a reflection of the driver. I want to be able to drive (really drive) before I get more mods or before I switch to an MN6.

Whatever I do, mod up my A4 or get a new car with a MN6, I'm going to make it nasty. I don't get any respect at all based on the appearance of my Z28. I guess that's a good thing though...stealthy.

I ran a best of 13.00@106mph but regularly run 13.1-13.2 if the temp is above 70deg.

This is completely stock otjer than the air filter in an A4 with 3.15 gears. No manual shifting.

On a side note. 1/4 mile times won't amount to anything when on the street unless you are racing another A4 equipt car PERIOD! I have raced soo many M6 cars from a roll that I can beat ET wise at the track and they just leave me in the dust from a roll! I even had my buddy in his 95 LT1 (13.8) M6 KILL me on more than one occation and thi swas when I was running 12.6@109!

My advice is, if it looks like a stick, don't race it on the freeway or you'll be sorry, and if it is a Vette A4 and he dowshifts correctly then you still won't have much of a chance, although much better than if he was a stick.

BTW I own both types of cars and regularly get trounced by all my M6 buddies on the freeway, but on the track I reign supreme!.

Ya, I know it's a different story on the street. I really don't like street racing though so I don't have to worry about that. I know I can hang with lightly modded M6 f-bodies from a 50 roll. Anything other than that and I'll be seeing tail lights with this stock convereter. As long as I hit the top end of second from a roll I can hang. I'm dead if I get caught at the bottom of 2nd.

Oh well, I'm getting a M6 in the Spring anyway.

A buddy of mine knows a friend that works at a Ford dealership who said the last 2 03' Cobras they sold went for $10k over sticker!! Ouch! Keep your f-body (if it will stay together) and put $10k in it.

That’s a bummer, considering my 2002 WS6, put down 308RWHP & 333RWTQ Bone Stock @ 1400miles.
I don't remember the air temp or humidity.

It kind of sucks that some LS1's make power, some don't.

Put 10G's into any LS1 power car and you will have a viscous machine!!!!!

Of course you will need another 10G's for your drive line!

F-bodies almost always put down more power on the dyno than the Vettes do. Now put an IRS on and F-bod, re dyno it and get back to us.

People put way too much stock on dyno numbers sometimes. Track numbers are the important ones.
