Dyno results from MAF to Speed Density.
Heres an 04 Z06 we have been toying around with at the shop. Only mods are long tubes and a cam. the car also has dual cutouts, but for dyno comparison sake, we will leave those off the graphs. You will see that the lower graph is the tune with the MAF, and when opening up alittle intake restriction and switching over to our custom Speed Density tuning, there is a nice gain all the way through.
Maf versus SD tuning.

Cam only. Dynomax headers & aftermarket air box.
433 rwhp at 6138, 411 ft. pounds of torque.
Small cam, only .590 lift.
91 octane.
The torque speaks it itself as well as the smoothness of the car.
With cut outs open 440 rwhp..

Did you physically remove the MAF on the second dyno? If so, it might good/interesting to see the SD tune used while the MAF was still in place. Were the runs done back-to-back?

No, the MAF was removed. There realy is no point in keeping the MAF there because thats the whole idea about getting rid of any restriction in front of the TB. The cool part is that the runs where done on the same day. I had both programs, the MAF already done and then I did the SD.

Argeed there is no point in keeping it if you are going to run SD all the time.
My thought was simply that leaving the MAF in place with SD tune would remove one more variable (the differences between the tunes) for the comparison. It is good that you mention 'removing the air restriction' because it seems too many people think that simply going to SD will make more HP. However, many people leave the MAF in place due to the integration of the IAT.
Thanks for the info.
