Default weight difference between FRC and coupe

How much is this big weight difference between a coupe and a hardtop?? Im not talking about a z06, im taking about a 99 FRC vs a 99 coupe, both 6 speed with the Z51 option.

Depends on the options on both cars and it depends if the coupe has a manual or auto. It can vary from as little as 45lbs to as much as 90lbs.

It would take a profesional driver on a race course to tell the difference between any of them.

I do not road race, but my car handles great IMHO. Unless you are road racing I do not think you will tell the difference.

I corner weighted my 2000 M6 coupe and it was 3160 with a lil' under 1/4 tank of gas. And I agree you won't be able to tell the handling difference unless both cars were modded to the hilt and a professional driver was flogging both of them.

I have no weight reduction, car was bone stock with a VaraRam when I weighed it. Don't ask me to explain it. It was on our auto-cross corner weighter and everything else was weighing in what they were supposed to.

Most Coupes weigh about 3300# and FRCs or ZO6s weigh about 3150#. My 396 is not an heavier than a 346 but my exhast is a little lighter than the stock system.
For comparison sake my 2000 SS weighed 3440# about 120# heavier than my Vette. That is on par with most SSs I have seen. If his 2000 coupe weighed 3160 it is about the same as a FRC car.

Coupes weight 32XX usually in the low end. Since he only had a 1/4 tank, it makes perfect sence that his car weighed 3160.

It's a toss up,less weight in the back,might mean worse 60 ft times.Hence worse 1/4 times.I always go with 3/4 tank full.

i agree. i went to the track last night w/ under 1/4 tank of gas and the results were terrible. i was cutting 2.5s and 2.6s all night. i guess from now on ill be going to the track with over 1/2 tank of gas.
