cam selection
TR 224/224 .563 112 LSA.....The most tried, true and proven cam of any on the market..
This cam delivers 35-50 rwhp on a bone stock engine.
I personaly gained 5 mph through the 1/4 mile with this cam over my stock LS1 cam in my 2004 automatic C5 coupe. A 5 mph gain through the 1/4 mile with 2.73 gears has to be a minimum of a 40 rwhp gain with the cam alone.
.....Averages....
Stock C5.......290-300 rwhp
TR224/224 cam....325-350 rwhp
This was by far the best mod I ever did. I picked up more mph from just the 224/224 cam than I did from the 2002 LS6 heads and cam set up I had prior.
And this cam is very streetable.

i was either thinking of going with a 224/228 .581/.581 on a 114LSA..
i might have to look into a 224/224 also.

P.S. My cam will be for sale in about two weeks...I'm going with an ECS Novi 2000 and will be using there own custom grind cam. Actually, this is a good example of knowing where your headed in performance mods. I had no idea I would go the supercharger route when I had my 228 installed. It's too aggresive for the supercharger I'm told. Good luck with whatever you select!!

When replacing just the cam, should you go through the heads too? Is a spring upgrade mandatory for a cam such as the one you talked about?
Thanks!
Lots of people say so and so is very streetable..But realistically i think the 224/224 cam is the biggest I would want to go..The idle can sometimes be ruff with this cam and it has died on me once while driving it up to a stop sighn....
As far as power i just dynoed on a dyno jet today...
-stock 2002 ls6 heads
-TR224/224 .563 at 112 cam
-vararam air intake
-no cats
-Borla straight pipe exhaust
-160 thermostat
I put down 378 rwhp and 370 rwt SAE corrected and 100% smoothed vrs my 299 rwhp and 309 rwt bone stock on the same dyno....
Even if you do every thing at the most possible rwhp gain..
ls6 heads....20 rwhp
no cats......10 rwhp
exhast.......10 rwhp
air intake....10 rwhp
That would still mean I gained a minimum of 28 rwhp from this cam.....
But realistically I think I gained.....
LS6 heads......15 rwhp
no cats..........7 rwhp
exhaust.........6 rwhp
air intake.......7 rwhp ( actually have the before and after dyno with the vararam)
35 rwhp is my guess from those mods alone meaning I gained roughly....44 rwhp IMHO....
So between 28-44 rwhp was my gain...And im thinking 44 rwhp unless all my other mods just had freakish results.
Mods will be F13 cam, AFR dual springs, FAST LSX intake manifold, Callaway Honker, LG Pro longtubes with no cats, and B&B Route 66 catback. All on a dyno tune from Jeff Creech.
Any guesses on numbers? I'm hoping for 440ish whp.
