Default Long Tube Clearance?

98 Vette, Decided to put headers in. Want to know if the long tubes have a lot of ground clearance issues or if I should just go with the shorties? Thanks

I have done both SLP and TPIS longtubes and niether had any different ground clearance than stock. I will never recomend SLP longtubes though, install is rough.

No issues with the LGs I think they are just about as low as stock.

i have had no issues with ground clearance with my kooks. if you are going to do headers go with longtubes, i wouldn't go with shorties.

I have kooks 1 7/8 and dont have any clearance issues even with my car lowered.
They are a PAIN to install though.
I had to losen the motor mounts and move the motor to the side.
Then once I got them installed the flange didnt match up to the heads

DYNATECH Headers here with pup cats and "zero" ground clearance! I highly recommend the DYNATECHs, however I 2nd the SLP Header comment from above, they are a PITA to install and I wasn't a fan of the tube routing.

LG pro's here...cars slammed with coilovers....no ground clearence inssues what so ever when it comes to the tubes. Installation is a bitch on the drivers side but....easier when you take off the ground strap on the driver side of the block...remove the alternator,.....remove coilpacks....and you should be good to go. YOu MAY have to remove the valve cover on the driver side.

The passenger side slides in without issue.

Remove your spark plugs before you remove your factory manifolds, otherwise the weight from the manifolds can crack the plugs.

Have someone go underneath the car, to support the headers, so you can easily start *****ALL****** of the header bolts. You can re-use your stock bolts....and I would recommend NEW GM gaskets. NOT LS6 gaskets. But, LS1 stock gaskets. Truck gaskets work fine as well.

Kooks....seem ten times easier to installl.....from what "I" have done here. I've installed kooks...and LG's....kook are WAY easier due to the shorter length of the tubes.

Do not waste your money and put on shorties.

Peace
