Default Considering a APS TT kit or KB 2.6

Anyone here running a APS Twin Turbo kit or a Kenne Bell blower? Just wondering what you thought of each and what kind of hp or 1/4mile numbers to expect.

I'd definately be interested in installing a Kenne bell or a APS kit on a car for a very reasonable first time price. As for advantages/disadvantage, the KB is going to be instant boost at the any time you stick it. The APS kit is going to have some delay. I think a 2.6L KB would be a awesome choice for someone who is trying to jump off the line or do some drag racing. We've done a ton of cobras that make over 600 RWTQ below 4000 RPM's.

The APS C5s have not hit the street yet, and not a lot of KBs on the street but the early results look pretty solid if you can deal with the hood. You might want to take a good look at the APS install instruction, it may help you make up your mind. I would not excatly call it a clean non-invasive install

I don't think any kit really is, but that's certainly no reason to forgo a power adder altogether.

I think either kit would be a lot of fun. The KB does require a hood swap as mentioned above.

In the long run, after you forge everything I think you would be able to make more power with the TT setup. That is if your looking for crazy numbers

There is a big cube LS2 motor in a C5 running the upgraded KB head-unit putting out very good numbers. Time will tell what the APS kit will max out at.

I certainly feel the scale of destruction is much high with the APS kit. Have you seen the detailed instructions yet? Anytime a torch and hammering the $hit out of a frame and other details that are involved seems to be pretty excessive to me.

Some do have a hard time stomaching the KB hood though

Yes, they are the best power adder installation instructions I've ever seen.

I would be one of those people. I like the power curve of the KB, but I'm really not willing to install a hood that redefines the "HIGH" in high-rise.

To each his own.

I like the idea of using a smaller hood with the KB and cutting out the hood for the pulley to barely show thru. If someone did this right, it'd be a sick look.

I've seen a picture of that somewhere...and you're right, it does look sick! Not going to be much of a sleeper though

The hood can't be a determining factor. There are other aftermarket hoods that would allow the clearance. You don't HAVE to use the KB hood.

I'm having a hard time finding numbers on either kit except for what the manufacturers put out. I'd like to hear from people who bought the kits. What their real world opinions are.

I'll be running an APS kit as soon as they deliver it to me (well, couple of weeks after). It's being installed for me along with an ECS Meth kit, Comp 918 springs, and a full/dyno tune on an otherwise stock 99 LS1 with an LS6 intake and Corsa Indy exhaust. Probably be running in Late Feb/Early March (am hearing kits will ship around end of Jan, transit time to states around 4 weeks last I heard).
