The GTS is a lot nicer than the convertible model. The Convertible with the top on looks like it has a frankenstein head, plus the GTS spoiler looks badass.

Well my pics didnt work again for some reason...

But from the front an rt10 and GTS are nearly endistinguishable..

Now from the side and rear you can tell them apart...

I did a little personal survey the last time me and my buddy went out with these two red cars..And just as many people picked the rt10 over the GTS as the GTS over the rt10...

I was kinda surprised by that, since I like the GTS better due to the rear end...But a lot of people thought the frankenstein top made the rt10 look more exotic like.

Vipers are getting a lot more popular I see them a lot now in the summer, there are 3 with in a few miles of me, I have chatted with 2 of the owners both real nice guys though. Get the C6 ZO6 best bang for the money, plus they respond very will to bolt ons and a tune. Why it the C6 ZO6 not exotic? it beats the pants off most exotics now with the trusty old pushrod engine.

Well to be considered an exotic you really only need to be expensive and rare...

At 73 K msrp a 2007 C6Z06 cost what a Viper did back 10 years ago in 1997..

The new 2008 viper will cost 90 grand...

But 73 K msrp in 2007 is still nonthing to sneeze at...And probally just enough to be considered an exotic...

The main flaw is the production numbers...Their have been 17,000 Vipers made from 1992-2007

Now look at how many c6z06's their have been made from 2006-2007..Around 14,000 right?

Their are nearly as many c6Z06's on the road as vipers after 15 years of viper production and 2 years of C6Z06 production..

Throw in the fact that their have been Z06's being made sine 2001 at a rate of around 7000 per year and their have been a WHOPPING 42000 Z06's produced and out their on the road...

Your looking at roughly 900,2001-2007 Z06's per US state

On the other hand with the viper your looking at roughly 300,1992-2007 Vipers per US state..

So you are 3 X more likely to see a Z06 than a viper...


Then theirs the fact that 50% of the people who own Z06's daily drive them...So out of those 900 per US state you have a chance of seeing 1 in 450 on any given day..

Only 10% of viper owners daily drive their car..So out of 300 per state you have a chance of seeing 1 in 30 on any givin day..

So now you are 15X more likely to see a Z06 than an Viper...

Wick makes since to me since I see a Z06 every 6 weeks and a Viper maybe once a year...

And hey seeing a Z06 every 6 weeks still constitutes as a rare car in my book. the problem is that in between those 6 weeks of spotting a z06 I will see ATLEASTE 1 c5 and 1 C6 every week for those 6 weeks. So when i do spot a Z06 it dosent have much impact..

In all honesty..The last time I went to an auto cross their was a yellow c6 and yellow C6Z06...I got them confused on more than one ocassion as well as everyone else their.


Ill give the C6Z06 this...The average guy can run an high 11 at 125 mph in one...Thats freakin insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And much like a porshe 911 I would consider it an everday exotic. But not a true bottom of the barral exotic like a viper or NSX...

3 years from now prices will greatly reflect what im saying..You'll be able to pick up a low mileage clean 2006 C6Z06 for 40 grand in 2010..In contrast a 4 year older clean low mileage 2002 viper will cost 45 grand in 2010..And even more if it's an ACR

I can't hardly wait. Guess which one I'll be buying? I guess I'm one of the guys buying a car for it's capabilities and not for resale. Cars have always been a losing proposition for me anyway. I've never been interested in the ones that made any money or been inclined to keep them long enough.

To each their own brother...Nonthing wrong with a Z06..If I wasnt driving a Viper thats what id be driving...

Z06's are awesome cars man...

I just kinda like it when people go OMG a Viper....Or wow Ive never seen one before..Or wow can I take a picture with it...

You get the celbrity treatment with it...Some people like that..(me)..But some people dont give a rats *** about that, and a Z06 gets more attention then they would care for..Let alone a Viper...

But while a C6Z06 and SRT Viper are pretty close visually with the Viper taking a slight nod..Due to having the little hood vents..( hey if the C6Z06 had em too it would be a dead heat LOL)

The gen 2 Viper looks much nicer than the C5..Gen 2 vipers have been called the sexiest american cars ever made by more than a few different enthusiast. While the C5..While beautiful..Looks a little boring sitting next to a 30 grand trans am from some angles.

Agreed. I also think the GTS is better looking than a C5 but my wife thinks they look ridiculous. Women....
If there was a bigger performance gap between the two then perhaps I'd be driving one also. I've had my car 4 yrs now and it's old technology. Imagine if I would have bought a 97 GTS. There were the same price back then. They do hold their value as long as you keep the miles down.

Kinda funny...My buddy has a red GTS and i have a red rt10...My wife thinks my old 2004 white c5 looks better than both of them as well...

your right about the old technology thing though..My car is 8 years old!!!!!!

but the one thing that saves it for me was when i dynoed it....Bone stock 410 rwhp and 465 rwt SAE on a dyno jet is equivalent to 470 HP and 520 tourque at the fly wheel with a 12% drive train loss..

Old car but the stock numbers and performance still hold their own with todays 911TT as well as M5 and e55AMG, to name a few...

And stock for stock she'd dust a GT500...About the only car that would rape my 8 year old car stock for stock for under 100 grand is the c6Z06...

The C5z06 is VERY close to the gen 2 viper in the 1/4 mile....But from a roll the Viper prevails pretty convincingly...It's geared for rolls with 3.07's while the C5z06 is geared for the 1/4 mile with that m12...

Ill always defend my baby and you like wise...Bottom line is were two lucky SOB's LOL..

My car was faster back from 2001-2005...Now your cars in the lead from 2006-2007..

But in 2008 the new vipers coming out...But then in 2009 the new super vette is comingout...

In the end..Neighter one of us can loose LOL...

Very nice car man. I do love vipers. They look absolutely menacing. We do have some work to do to keep up with what they're putting out these days and the days to come. Thank god for blowers and nitrous!

Dude just get out more,....GO to the races,....GO to the cars shows,... Viper guys are just a bunch of "twinks" POSERS, with names like "Biff",....and "Chip" I went to an American Le Mans race not too many years ago and these dick-less "hand polishers" roped off a huge section of the stands they got away with it until some of the Irish showed up then we tore it down and before the end of the race we had them in the corner cowering as unfortunately we MIGHT have a few cold and frothy malt sodas!!

Get the viper!!! Trust me Ive driven both (dad owns an 05' viper and had an 07' vette) the viper deff. pulls more girls then the vette ever does, even the Z06 models. Plus i found the viper easier to drive and in my opinion it got better mpg then the vette did. If you dont like the exhaust then remove the resonators and leave them open, sounds nice as hell.
