Default Gauging Interest: About to buy a C5 ls1, what are good mods?

HELLO everyone. Im about to buy a red c5 FRC LS1 and i want to know, what kinda horsepower i could make with an ls1, this will be my first ls1 (had a 1980 corvette till it caught fire ) Im gonna have around 4 grand right when i buy it to do whatever so thats what im looking to spend. I want it to sound like a 60s corvette so im gonna cam the **** out of it but anything else that is a MUST? Is NOS an option? Or should i just save and get a z06?

- approximately 69,xxx miles
- LT's, off-road x pipe, magnaflow catback, K&N CAI, MSD wires, painted calipers
- lowered on stock bolts

The maggie is perfect for a stock LS1/6

You can't use the stock hood though, you need the Magnacharger hood (clearance)

You'll gain 100+ rwhp in one day's work and when you sell the car, you can swap the stock intake/hood back easily.

I'd stay as far away from FI as possible unless you have the budget to do it right. Toss a cam in and call it good. Just my .02.

4000 to spend on mods

g5x3 cam, valvetrain upgrades, pro longtube headers, cold air intake, ls6 intake manifold, and a good tune. Should jump you from 300 rwhp to about 380-390 rwhp or so. Good luck

Boy am I dumb, I just read the rest of you post.

Get the cam, the vtrain upgrades and a fast 90 intake with a 90 mm tb. Should definately get your car moving.

Definitely stay with the vette...and a Z06 outta the box is going to have quite a bit more muscle feel to her. Whatever floats your boat! Once you buy, post up pics.

They are all good bro,... some are just better than others! You will NEVER just bolt on horsepower unless you have a plan,....(1) sequence DOES matter! You must be ABLE to move more AIR/FULE before you can. Lower temps first,....then,... Big INTAKE,...HEDDERS, hy-flow cats,. Big X-Pipe,.. and big axel back! This is where you START!!! After you do all those things,....Then come back and we will beat the **** out of your bank account even worse,... now go on git ! started.

I spent about $2k on spray and have every possible safety mechanism. Drop that in your FRC for about 400 RWHP and keep the other $2k in case you make a mistake.

Good luck and have fun!

99FRC- your car = ****. love the color and it takes a certain car to make black rims look good, and yours does.

Get the red FRC.. It will be damn close to a stock Z as far as performance.. Toss in a cam, and an intake on it and walk the Z. Be prepared for a clutch regardless on what you get... as the stock clutch is gay and wont last long especially with miles on it..

I'd pass on that camaro.. No actual dyno numbers... plus thats on a STOCK bottom end.. Its just a heads/cam car.. Lil too much $$$ for what you are getting..
