Is the top secured on the Vette!

This came up on another C5 forum asking has a top ever come off a Vette at the track! The consenses was that a properly secured top could not come off, but the glass top is on glued to the frame on a C4!

This is a vid that I think was posted on CamroZ28.coma few years ago!

I know alot of guys who race there C5's with the targa top and have never had a problem. As long as the top is secured in place properly it wont come off.

As long as the targa top is latched it is fine. The flying roof only happens when the top is not latched. I belong to the Flying Roof Club, member 327

I lost when when doing a hard 0 to 70ish run. About 70 mph, the roof took off and launched its self about 50 feet into the air.

that sucks. surprised it didn't come off sooner.
just like some f-bodies I have heard about coming off if they are not latched.

I posted in the original thread where this vid was shown and the top was properly latched and guy said it came away from the frame. He said it was urathaned on the and he retrieved the top and reuranthaned it to the frame and it was back on the car with a few scratches!
