400 RWHP with H/C only?
2001 MN6
Just wondering if a conservative CAM will get me to the 400RWHP mark.
Current mods are Halltech Stinger, Borla Stingers and a tune by Sean@OCC.
Don't plan on running headers since CA is the "Have fun with your car and die" SMOG state.
Any ideas what this will cost?
OCC will do all the work if you guys think this is outta my hands. I can turn a wrench but the tune will HAVE to be done by them.
Thanks!!!

I would do
160 thermo
AFR heads
Cam - since your in cali im not sure

With the stock headers and a conservative cam, I do not think so. The stock headers are very restrictive anything over stock rwhp. To over come them, you will need a pretty aggressive cam. But going with a aggressive cam, you will most likely not pass emissions. Double edged sword for you.
I think mildly ported L92 heads with a conservative cam and stock headers could get you please, but they will not work on a stock bore block. Need a 4.00" bore or larger.

You'll need good heads to get 400rwhp with no headers and a cam that will pass california emmissions.
I'd get headers and bring your friend Ben Franklin to the inspection. Ask local guys where to go and who to see to pass with headers.

the new z06 does it.. plus some...
I'd call texas speed and performance and tell them your problem... Texas has emissions standards i believe as well.. So they should be able to help you work some magic, with parts and tune selection.
Idk if this is legal or if anyone had tried this...
4 cats??? 2 on both sides???

I saw a magazine article on a stock '00 C5 with only an air filter box upgrade to start...
They added a set of AFR 205cc heads (no cam, exhaust, or intake upgrade) and the C5 gained 37 horsepower at the wheels!
That was the entire article, but you can imagine adding a 224 series cam and get another 30... + a bit more on the heads with the extra flow..
On a stock 300rwhp C5 with the heads and cam above, plus full bolt on's you've got 400 rwhp in the bag using stock manifolds.... get a better catback too.

Your goal is reachable, but since our smog laws suck, you might want to go with a procharger or other smog legal supercharger. My car is going in to LAPD on Monday for my head and cam package. When it's done, I'll show ya at tha block.
