Cheapest way to a low 11 sec. daily driver? C6 LS3, C6 LS2, C5ZO6, Ford GT500, C6ZO6
I would like a nice, reliable daily driver that can be driven to the track and run consistent low 11 second 1/4 mile times without changing tires or even tire pressure. I owned an '03 ZO6 for a while but I sold it to go Kart racing. I loved that car and regret selling it. Now I need a new daily driver and wondered what people thought about these various options. I want to keep costs down as much as possible on my quest for this car. Every option will require a certain level of modification except for maybe the C6 ZO6. One of the easiest cars to modify would be the GT500. However this car certainly lacks many things when compared to the vettes. Thanks for the input.

C6Z06...puts you right where you need to be, right outta the box. buy new and you get the 5yr/100K warranty too! Or, get a new 08 LS3, and intake, headers, tune, and better tires...you'll put smack down on most!

The LS3's have tremendous potential! It would be hard to get a new GT500 knowing what the LS3's are capable of with power and handling. But if you can afford a C6Z, they're a nasty beast!

You're my typical customer in the used car department. All you want is an 11 second car and it needs to be a daily driver. I tried to see where you lived. In Ohio a Z06 in the snow is almost as worthless as the 120 hp. bike.
Are you single married, do you have any kids? How far do you drive to work? I've never done a Mid-Size truck. I think almost everything that can be done has been done to both a Z06 and a F-Body. There are hundreds of 11 second examples running around. You build a 11 second street truck you'll have something different. Depending on what you can do, your total cost might be less than your other ideas.

i cant believe you guys are telling this guy the cheapest way is to buy a 45k NEW vette...
you can pick up a C5 z06 all day long for 25k, i paid less. throw a heads/cam setup on there for what, 5k including install and tune, and run probably quicker then low 11's all day.

No doubt about that. Since this is a DD, I'd look for a S/C or TT C5Z. They're all over the place and can be had for around $30k. You're talking 500rwhp easily with stock drivability. Check out corvetteforum.com's for sale section.

You are all missing a very important part of the post. He doesn't want to change tires or lower tire pressure. I don't care what HP you are making,if you can't get it to the ground you will not run low 11s.I don't think there is a street tire out there that will do that. You can run low 11s with 400+ rwhp but you need DRs.So the question is, Will the OP be willing to run DRs full time.If yes then I agree with the majority of the post.

the nitto 555II tires and a s/c c5z should do it. I ran 11.78 with lt and cai with nitto dr but did lower the air pressure. the 555II tire is more for road racing but has the same rubber compound as the dr. I put 10k miles on the dr the first year I had them. Once in very light snow.
