Any Truth to a V10 Vette Coming Out?
Hey all, I was talking to a buddy of mine that had a 06 Vette, and wrecked it. Insurance covered it, and he could not find a Vette he liked for the money he wanted to spend at the time. He let someone talk him into buying a 428 Rousch Mustang and he HATES it. I told him that I saw a nice C6 Z06 for sale, and he told me he was going to wait for the V10 Vette come out.
I have never heard of this. Is this true? I heard that Vette was going to boost thier performance a bit since Camaro was coming out with some nice numbers under the hood. (that is if they EVER get around to realsing a new Camaro, I feel a little lied to) Does anyone know anything about it? Will the body change at all? V10 sounds like a good idea, more cylanders are always good, even if I can't spell. Does anyone have a press release or pictures I can look at? Did a search and nothing really came up.

You can look till your eyes wear out...you can't find anything because there is nothing to find ... If he is waiting on the V10 Vette he will have an extremely long wait ...because it is not happening..the object of the game is go faster not slower...the V8 powered Z06 and the upcoming ZR1 will spank a Viper already..they dont need any more cylinders to take care of bizz ...
Why would you feel lied too about the Camaro ... the cars production has always been targeted for the last quarter of 2008 with the cars arriving at the dealers in the first quarter of 2009..no lies there.

The V-10 was a thought for the ZR1 but it would not fit in the C6 platform. I just read that somewhere and cannot remember where. But it never made it past a thought or the drawing board.

GM is the only BIG company to figure out that they don't have to have a V-10 to be fast or have torque. Look how shitty Dodge and Fords V-10's are in there trucks. I know the Viper is a fast car til it has to run with the new ZR1. You see the Exotic cars with there V-12's and this new Vette with a little bit of boost and 100K cheaper will be right beside them and faster than most. I say WORLD BEATER!!!!!! "BOOST" The replacement for displacement. Sorry. I know he asked a simple question.
AutoWeek in an interview with Bob Lutz, if memory serves !!!
GM's engineers first considered an 8 liter V-8, an up sized LS7 NA...but found that inpractical.
Next a V-10... but under hood room issues ruled it out.
Then, they tried a mule engine using turbo's but the mule burned up.
That's when GM went to the supercharged LS9 borrowing from Cadie's supercharged NorthStar setup.
Why mess with perfection... The LS series is awsome !.. and for those of you had to ask WHY NOT to the mustang quote, you have to be an idiot to think anyone who enjoy a mustang... that envy the power of the vette

Front engine V8 rear wheel drive = Corvette ... there is no substitute ... the compact size, light weight, and power out put of the LS series engine platform is hard to beat..
