500 RWHP in 02+ z06
How doable is that with a heads/cam z06 02+; with a stock shortblock
Anybody have one?
What mods?
What heads?
What cam?
Stock LS6 intake or other?
Will a Vic. Jr w/ elbow fit under stock hood?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

I dont think that intake will fit with the stock hood. I would think 500hp is a lot for a head cam package but then again I could be wrong. I figure with a good set of heads and a decent cam you could make 450 to 475.

You'll want a good set of heads/matched cam
fast 90/90
headers
ud pulley
intake
The Victor junior elbow will not fit under a stock hood. Even if you use a hood with an extra 2 inch clearance the elbow will likely be bent too much to take advantage of the intake. With a very high rise hood it may work.

you can hit 500 RWHP with some trick flow heads, stock shortblock, and ALLLLL of the supporting mods.. its been done many many many times by vengeance racing and their custom "smoothed" TFS 215's and ported FAST manifold.
its much easier to just build a bigger cube motor like me though

I opened a thread where I have videos, graphs and pictures about my 346Cid built-up.
The results are 511 rwhp and 455rwtq on pump gas and it is a daily driver...
Not that cheap but something special, take a look here:

What's funny is that you say "02+" Zo6...
The only hp differences in the 01 ~ 02+ are the cam and the fact that the 01 has 4 cat-converters versus 2 in the 02+
So if you do heads/cam/headers/intake you're really talking about ALL C5's not just Zo6's and not just 02+

Thanks for the info.
Joshua-Would want a 02+ for the HUD, and other little differences.
miami993c297- Alot of great info in that thread, Thanks.
WhosNXT- The plan would be a H/C, but if a Maggie popped up for around that price, it would be thought about.

last i checked Vengeance only had about 5 cars that broke the 500rwhp mark with a H/C/I 346. It's not as easy as you make it sound, but it can be done.

oh yeah? thanks for clearing that up jackass
i do believe i never said it was easy, i just said one of the only shops that has done it is vengeance and they have done quite a few. Do you really think they post about every single car they build on this website?

If I was trying to acheive this goal I would just go with a bigger cubed motor, if you were against using nitrous, or any other kind of forced induction. Unless you want to make a statment with the stock bottom end, go for it, but I think in the long run bigger cubes are the way to go for you, also based on what Nwmembr19 said; also due to the money side of things also. Also as Nwmembr19 said better driveability. I can think of two cars (just off the top of my head) in my area in FL where these big cubed 402/408's that make over 500rwhp and torque, and they drive like 224 cammed Ls1's.
Just my 2 cents.

As is driving my highly modified 346Cid, and sometime a lot better than modified 402 as stated in the thread about my engine...
I agree on the cubes, but it's by far not the unique factor of making an engine powerful and drivable...

I can agree with you, what I gave as an example is just what I've seen and experienced.
