I just ordered a set of 555RIIs for the Z06. I am very excited to get them on and finally be able to feel how fast the car is really. Spinning through first and second have grown very old. I will do a write up on these tires when I get them mounted. This should be within the week hopefully mid week, we will see how fast they get shipped. I know not many on here have tried them so this write up on them will be helpful. If you have tried them give me some feed back. The 555RII is supposed to be just as good for drag racing as the 555R was but much better for road racing and cornering on the street. We will see.

I've had the same rear set of R2's for 3 years, lasting about 20K miles! I was not easy on them either, notice my avatar how I was breaking them in. I think this summer will finish them off. They're a great tire for the street, and much improved traction over the stock F1's. They work great on warm/hot days, but when its under 70 degrees outside I notice they don't hook as good. I would probably buy them again.

Just finished two days at Laguna Seca with a new set of 275/305 RIIs and I couldn't be happier. The car never handled as good. You are going to be very happy.

Whos, I have had mine for 11,000 now...probably have another 6-7000 mile left. They do great on the street (no problem in the rain either)..as well as the strip. I did notice they seem to be pretty hard now and spin real easy. When I first got them, they would pick up every little rock or stick and make all kinds of noise as they slung everyting into the wheel well. My 2 cents

Here is a pic from this morning..I hadn't put them back on yet from the track the other night. By the way...half of those miles are from a 390 gear...lots of abuse to the tires !!!

Wow, I am glad to see a few of you running them. I had asked before and it seemed not to many were. I feel much better about the choice now. The main reason I went with the Nittos over the BFGs was the mileage factor. Pit yours still look great and you all seem to be getting good miles out of them. I worry about the rocks being thrown at the fenders but hopefully it will not be bad. Are you guys noticing it hurting the paint?

No paint damage at all..just flings everything they roll over into the plastic wheel well..haha. For the first year anyway. They are like Fly paper or the mouse glue traps..LOL

I had these in a 315 on my modded C5. I couldn't imagine driving without them... Nice choice!

Good. I went 305 in the rear. The place if found with the best price did not carry them in a 315. For the savings the width difference is minimal.

305's is as big as I could go in my FRC with the rear brake ducts. They almost rub. So I'd imagine the 315's will rub on my car and zo6's due to the brake ducts. Just an FYI. On a side note whats the difference between rI and rII's ?? I think I have the 555r, not rII.

The RIIs have the same tread pattern as the RIs but the have stiffer side walls and a few other changes to make them work well on the road track. Here is a link to the RIIs on nittos site.

if your making alot of power, those 555 arent that great, i just switched to some MT ET streets, and love them...

I agree, but I am not about to run my E T Streets in the rain.. plus they are so thin to begin with..better watch out for nails and glass. Having a flat is a high probability IMO. I won't even drive to the track with them on. I figure if you do get a nail in them..not a good idea to plug or patch a tire for doing 125+ mph that is paper thin on tread thickness to begin with. Just my 2 cts.

MTs are a great tire for the track. My car will be on the street and have around 10-12k put on it a year. The nittos last much longer than the MTs and that was the decision maker. I can't afford to buy tires every 7k miles. Plus the 555RIIs are as good as the 555Rs at launch but are made for cornering so I can run them on all fours.

I have been running nitto r2's on the street for years now and luv em'. There's no comparison between them and et streets, none at all. I have a reasonable amount of hp and have no trouble hooking with the nittos obviously driving sanely.
I have also cut a few mid 1.6x's on the strip with very little seat time. The nittos dr should be good for 1.50's however.
I like the nitto rr tires because you can go fast on say a higway ramp that a drag radial may have trouble with.

I am dying waiting of these damn tires. I wish I would have spent the extra 100 on 2nd day shipping. They are coming UPS ground all the way from Cali to Nash. I ordered them Sat. and received a conformation number and replied asking for a tracking number but still have not received a response. I hope they arrive Fri or Sat so I can have them mounted and play around this weekend. Lets keep our fingers crossed!

I had 315 Nitto555Rs on my 99SS M6 with over 450rwhp and they sucked if they werent heated up.... I mean heated up really well. When I would go to the track, I would not get a good launch out of them until probably the 3rd pass.... They needed a very long burnout in order to get them nice and sticky.

My friend had them on his 00 FRC, the 305s, and had the same problem. And he was only at 320~rwhp.

i ve had mine for about a year....

there as good as everyone says...
and i think GM should have put this tire from the factory.

you can really drive the car with these....
i have yet to spin then once....

Good to hear. I am ready to get them on twisties and finally see how well the car preforms. Have you had them slide in the corners yet when pushing the car?

I see many people say their 555Rs were no good. I bought the 555RIIs witch can be used at the strip but are geared more towards road racing and cornering.

Well, I have some bad news. My two rear tires were delivered today. I am ordering the fronts within the next few weeks due to the fact I am 23 and short on cash at the moment. I get home from work and see them, I am pumped, I run over pick on up and look at it. What do I read on the sidewall? It read Nitto 555R instead of 555RII!!! I am so pissed right now I don't know what to do, I already have an appointment to get them mounted tomorrow at my friends shop and planned on going out with a few other cars tomorrow night. Then I was going to the track Friday nigh with a few other friends. I don't want to wait another week for them to reship and have to ship these back. I guess I will have them credit the price difference back to my debit and run these. I will order the fronts from another business and never shop at this place again. I don't know if it was an honest mistake or they thought they could screw me for 70 dollars and I would not know the difference.
