HELP: Steering column Locked
So I bought the bypass. Still didnt unlock it tho. So I need to just get the steering wheel unlocked and then the bypass should work as like its suppose to.
So is there anyway to get this damn steering wheel unlocked? Im really ready to get into a C6, hope they arent as troublesome as C5's
Kinda makes me want to go drive into a wall with the steering wheel locked up and sue the **** outta GM...
Damn they **** me off...
The other option is to jerk the living hell out of the wheel until is comes free.
But I think I finally fixed it. And the car is back here at my place now... I took the plastic shroud off that was covering the steering column.. I could barely see a part of the pin that was going through the column, So I jammed and pryed at it with a screw driver and it unlocked....
So I just plugged in the bypass... Did some AutoX in the parking lot to make sure nothing would lock up and headed home.
Once the column is unlocked and I plug in the bypass, its as simple as that right? No need to reset anything or pull any fuses right?
i got it undone by forcefully beating the steering wheel until it came undone then put the harness inline.
mine had instructions i believe. i remember pulling a fuse under the passenger floormat for something though, to long ago to remember.
keep the bypass box on it.
a chevy dealer will adivse against this and tell you to come in for the 'recalled' version.
that is UNTIL you read all the stories of it doing the same exact thing as the previous model doing, i've even heard of guys getting it done 2 or 3 times and even new steering assembles and complete columns replaced to only happen again. crazy.
my box worked from the start and hasnt failed me yet, so i'm sticking to that.

The dealership I bought the car from told me I would have to
pay for the repair because per the GM database the initial fix
had been performed on my car. I in turn towed the car to
another dealership only a few miles away from me. The tech
looked at the car and said the initial fix had never been done
to my car (imagine that a service department lying about doing
the initial fix to GM). They took out the complete locking plate
so now my steering wheel turns free all the time whether the
engine is cranked or not and they did not charge me a cent for
the repair work..
