Question for myself. PIC'S******
i am at my whits end with this thing
.i bought the kit last oct. and started in feb. the thing i was least worried about(tune) has turned into a nightmare.i just got a 2 bar today to see if will solve the tune issue.i have been threw a diablo, mail order and now hptuner pro.no, there is no gm tuner support here in mobile.although a guy by the name of Tampa mike(mike emerson) just opened but, is part time and doesn't seem interested, honda tuner.sorry to jump in on you guys but when i found this thread it was at the begging.i got a call from a young guy in tampa last night with alt .brk. trouble.do you have pics?i made mine out of 1"cold roll flat stock ,from Lowe's,not pretty but works.i have a04 ls6 and he has a 2000 coupe.i am not sure the head bolt holes are the same. i have smoken hawk#2 and the two die cut pieces of **** that i could never figure out.i told him i would copy mine for free ,but if yours is better i'll send him your way.
one more thing ,air circulation up front.i have zero.do the inserts work?did you cut the frame?
any help from you guys will be put to good use please feel free to call me late,up till 2-3 am.i can't type for **** so there notes are very hard for me.

I gather this much, I think...
You have a PTK kit on a Z06....the tune is giving you fits, and you are having airflow issues?
Couple questions....what fuel system is on the car? Injectors?
I know of one tuner in Mobile, have you looked up RWTD? Bubba ought to be able to handle this no prob.
As for the airflow, V-series has a big hole cut in the front bumper. It seems to aid quite a bit, as IATs and coolant temps are all in line. Is the coolant temp the problem you are having?
I'm sure Jamie will be glad to share a pic or two of his alt bracket.
Good luck.

More patience than me, bro. That post made me fall out of my chair. Where did our public school system let us down?
Additionally, good luck with your turbo corvette!

RWTD-i have been chasing him ever sense i bought my last car,97 ws6.
i have met him in person and talked about the tune.like every other service provider in mobile (not just cars)they are afraid to admit they are not sure of them selfs so instead of hitting it head on they dance around .i should post up a e-mail i just got from a new guy in town ,tampa mike.first he says he does not know hpt then he goes off on i rant about what a piece of **** this kit is .he has never even seen it.
back to this,
the temps are an issue ?
.hood off idle is 198* on 220*-230*
45 MPH 198*-207* win I'M ON IT
iat 109* idle,just under 100* driveing
the guy that made a comment on my typing skills?
i have none ,in the 70,s a guy would be half a *** if he took typing.for me i was in college at 15 for metal machining 1+2.i can hit a key pad on a dozen or so operating systems for CNC equipment but i sure can,t type.so give me a break and tell me about what you have done with your tti kit on your vett.
sorry guys i get this allot from the younger guys including my sons.i t takes me 30 min. for every post and it drives them crazy. i have been improving

You supposed to do the line of coke,..after you type dawg.

One,..i'll try and get some alternator pics up man. Don't really have any at the moment but, I had alot of issues with mine, and ended up making a bracket myself to add to the bracket I got with the kit.
Two...do the ducts work?...as in the ducts on my hood? hell yes. IAT's are super low(thats intake air temp)...so, they're doing there job well. I do have alot of heat under my hood, so I need to add some insulation, possible cut in some vents. You should do the same.
3.Tuning,...can't help you there man. You either need to learn tuning 101,....or trailer the car in a direction to a known good LSX turbo tuner.
4...did I cut the frame?...no, not at all.

mr,...I hear ya.
I'd cut in some vents on your hood, to extract the air. EIther that, spend 1500 bucks on an AIR EXTRACTING HOOD. Thats your only choice with that bro. Do you have a thermostat? How about water pump? I run a 165 stat on an 2005 pump. I have a stock radiator. It's weak as hell but, so far, so good. I'm in south florida, the temps here are hot. My IATs are on a 90degree day, in stop and go, about a 100 degrees. On the highway, it's in the 90's, at night, I have seen 82 degrees, as of current. Most I have seen is 112 IAT. Heat of day. My coolant, runs about 199-207 right now, stop and go traffic. As high as 210ish. I get nervous then but, thats fine. My radiator pitch is 6 inches forward, and the top of my radiator sits even with the frame rail. I have not cut the frame, only the removable front cradle.
What have you odne for mods? IS this a stock car with a top mount TT kit?...42 pound injectors, boost a pump,.and thats it correct? ANy otehr cooing mods?
DID you cut out your front bumper insert? as in the liscense plate? Look at my pics above, you can get an idea of how to do it. I also have nothing behind my Z06 styled screens on the front of the car, I am sure that helps as well. If you have a Z06,...you already have nothing blocking.
Anyways man,..feel free to ask me any questions you'd like about the kit. I'll do my best to walk you through it. Just do me a favor,..and leave some spaces between the questions. Thats all I ask. YOu can do tha by pressing the enter button, atleast once.
Don't sweat the typing man.....I just smoked some weed, did a line, had some crown royal,...and I can read your post just fine,...all in proper english.

Thanks man. I gotta send y ou a pm about the air to water
We do alot of testing on my car at diablosport. I'll talk to you more about it. I've always been happy with the way my car runs and drives.

i like the hood in your pics.did you install the extractors?
where are they from.
i did this with no local help,i flew a friend in from ca. for ten days and it was not enough.i have worked on lots of car but never bothered with computers.i am learning everything all at once.i didn't even have metric tools.
thanks for the help, mike
keep it comming

His "extractor" ducts are less about extracting and more about inhaling. They're NACA ducts from this place --->http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/gro...oupID=DUCTNACA
There's other places that have them too, just google NACA ducts. By the way, NACA stands for National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, which was the program in place before NASA was created.
: )
Oh, and while the NACA ducts are providing fresh COOL air to your filters up front, the extractor vents would be best placed towards the rear of the engine compartment, somewhere over the headers. These extractors may also help you keep your front end planted when you're setting the Alabama countryside ablaze during a high speed run!
I found these, but something in plastic would surely be LOTS cheaper.

how did you know?we bust 160 not three miles from the house.my friend from ca. was out to help and he picked up a reckless .the cop couldn't clock us ,had no radar.

i was already thinking four inserts just ware you recamended.
i'll do the alt. brkt.for the guy in tampa tonight. my son got 3/4" stock not 1".
i am going to make 2 or 3 just in case.i was stuck on this issue for over a week so i'll help others if i can.it is an ugly basturd of a bracket but it works.
on another note, did you run a hose from the valve cover to the left side cold air intake tube nipple?i hooked the smog pump to it because of the vararam i had it seems like it fit the same purpose.
thanks mike
Z06. The naca ducts go directly into my air filters. I have no hoses on them,..just directly on top of each filter. I had no room fo an airbox but,...one day down the road, it'd be neat to make something like how the older GTS coupe vipers had there airbox(aftermarket I believe). They had a sealed off area....or atleast an aftermarket company did for those cars. I might close it in down the road but,...just trying to get the car fully functional.
I need a couple of small things before I hit the dyno. I've just been too busy lately at work.
i am thinking one large 2 hole, upside down ,and one on each side back a bit for the header heat.
logged 20 min. w/ 2bar tonight.
out side temp 80*
iat 82*
eng temp 194*
45 mph
mike
What do you think about the old callaway cars?.....Think,..."sledgehammer"... remember the front scoops on the front nose cone(bumper)...at the top, where the bumper and hood would meet, right there, they had a serious of ducts cut into place.
Functional,..and unique. Just would have to make it work, which it could.
But, it sounds like your getting your heating issues solved, judging by your logging.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Where did you get your insulation on your hood? I need that.
Your bracket bro, looks horrible. No offense but, it doesn't look like it's gonna hold. The LAST pic in your album is of a bracket, which looks alot better then the one that you had shown on the car in a pic. I have SOME pics of my bracket, on the beginng pages, just not the most current addition of the added piece of metal, to provide an outriger/base, which seemed to work well. Everyting is rock solid. You've GOTTA make sure it's solid. Cause once your setup, and able to shift qucikly, the bracket will never hold the shock/load from the motor loading and unloading, then loading again. My original setup wouldn't have worked either.
greenwood has a scoop kit for 800.00 .like most kits gy the time you ship, fit and paint your at 1500.00 or so.i contacted a manufacturer in so. cal.that will build my desighn for 650.00.the hood is on the things to do list.
for now it is the tune.what a pain,we just went 2 bar.i need to go log 20 min tonight.i never thought it would take so much to tune
my bracket looks weak but it's pretty rigged.anyway i am going to draw one up to be made on a machining center, thats my trade.
