extractors over the waste gate area would be good. Extractors over the manifolds would be good too. Something to get the air in would be nice, depending on filter location.

15s wont fit generally....

Look into a set of C4 wheels with the 8.5" fronts and the 9.5" rears, the rears measure out closer to 10" and there's plenty of available tire sizes to fit them (315/35/17 Mickey Thompson will be the hot ticket).

I have one set of rear C5 wheels with drags on them. If I ever feel bold, i'll strap on the CCW 16inch rears,..which still require to do some real easy mild grinding on the ball joint.

As mike said...the C4 wheels work great....and have been working great for us for years as a good 17inch combo,..with 315 35 17's...

Yes, i'm actually terrified of DR's and the rain. I've piloted my car through a crowded innersection one day when it was wet out...just barely wet with my BFG's... omg. Talk about fishtails. **** was wild. I shated right through with no problems,...otherthen the shitty feeling of not being able to control something that you always usually can(in the dry). Wild. Anyways, luckily on that occasion, I did alright for myself.

Now, thats just the wet. I like to be able to make lane changes under throttle at SPEED,....with DR's...... I do NOT feel comfortable due to the side wall slop that I feel. I dunno, maybe it's the doug rippie coilovers making the car super stiff(more then normal for a drag radial).

Anyways,..curious to your pirelli's... I have been to multiple road race events over the years and seen alot of rain tires.... which includes pirelli's....which always looked like a crazy tread pattern.

I don't have another bracket man but,...looking forward to our build.

for those that said a 2.73 wouldn't work. I gotta tell you,...it works. Very well. Car is nothing near a dog and to be honest, if it wasn't for my TACH reading 1000rpms @ 58mph in 6th gear,...i'd never believe it was a different gear in the car.

Food for thought.

Lingenfelter ran 2.73 gears with a bunch of his top end machines, no problems.

How's the traction, any improvement ?

Considering he saw 24-25 MPG on the way home from the dyno while cruising at like 85 mph with the 3.42, yeah, I'd guess he could see some stupid numbers with the 2.73s!

He seems to have a newfound confidence in the cars tractability....he says even if it spins now, its not as violent and much more controllable with the right foot as opposed to the wild things that were happening with the stock gears.

Certainly a step in the right direction.

That's awesome. I may do the same thing with my gears when I get to that stage of my build next year.

Good question fella's,...i'll get on it right away. Either way, I was happy with how the car ran fuel wise when it needed to be sain.

word.

The traction is alot better man. Way better. I can honestly not feel a difference in how the car feels, driving normal or not. Except, when I went wot racing a bike the other night. The car does spin the street tires at speeds above 90-100 mph but, before, it would do it all of a sudden @ 130 with the michelin 335's. Causing me to completely lift, which at that speed, and how sideways it gets, you have to. Now, with the 2.73's. I can stay in it, slightly lift(kinda like a power boat,....throttling it, as it goes in and out of the water,...) it's pretty wild, and I wish they're was a dash camera on the front of the bike watching it. It felt crazy, i'm sure it looked and sounded nuts from behind.

Anyways, yes indeed, it has helped. It made my car driveable at WOT at 100+mph without a drag radial,...which to me, is priceless

I'll try it later on tonight or tommorw. Mattdawg wants to see it so, maybe i'll drive it there tonight. The car does hook much better but, i'll be having a tire on it for slow speeds.

^ I'll be looking forward to your long term report on the 2.73 gears as I may go this way too.

When I first asked him how it felt, he said that at first he was sure someone had swapped the 2.73s out of the rear and replaced them with 3.42s, until he looked at the tach at 60 MPH and saw no RPM...so my impression that having 700 ft/lbs should allow you to run any gear you want seemed to be dead on.

for my build, im using a built A4 along with very tall 2.73 gearing as well. turbos love load and it will also give ya a broder rpm band to apply all the tq with hence better traction.

I agree with you all on the lower gears. I'll probably just end up selling my current rear and getting on e with 2.73 or 3.15 's

BTW Jamie what tranny are using MN6 or M12 ?

MN6 hommie. The car drives nice and smooth,..drives really normal. It honestly feels no different. If I stab it from a DEAD stop, with no clutch dump, it is a DOG up until i'd say 37ish MPH,...then it comes on strong from there. If I SHIFT really LAZY,..(like not trying to race anyone)...it'll fall off a tad to where it's still pulling but,..give it a literal second, and it's right back to making alot of power/pulling.

But, if I shift quickly, it still blisters the tires off the car,..even drag radials. So, I personally have no problem with keeping the 2.73 in my car forever at the moment. Maybe, MAYBE i'd try a 3.08 or 3.15 tjust to see but, I really like this gear right about now.

Also, it's good to know that my camshaft is more of an MID to UPPER rpm performaing camshaft soo, which is designed for a 3.73 or so gear....so, the car, given a "proper" turbo camshaft, could probably get the car to perform better down low but, honestly, I have a two piece cam door,...and I don't see myself changing camshafts on this setup anytime soon.
