Default Calling Larry out: C6 against Wife in Cl55

After numerous runs over the weekend up to 130mph, Caren is ready to go from a dead stop or a 20mph roll.. Traction is impossible under 20mph , even in this 98 deg heat but either way or both is fine. The CL55`s estimated race weight will be in the 4500lb range.. The quesstion is, can 516tq at 2750 be enough to stay ahead before your feather weight car runs this luxury coupe down by the end of the 1/4.?

I know you are looking for revenge after she beat a certian rust colored Mustang in a 6500lb chevy truck a few years back.. All on video at HRP.

BTW, how much HP have you added with your mods? airraid? etc, etc? Etc= mild grinding and porting of stock parts?

Oh my my, I've been challenged! I better accept the challenge before you turn that very nice Mercedes into a "silver bath tub". I can see Brooke now gutting it and loading it onto a trailer.

Ok, 20 mph sounds good to me. This old slow 08 LS3 Corvette won't hold traction from zero either.

All I have in an Airaid intake. Not even a tune! No grinding, chiseling or cutting or anything has been done.

Do I have a chance guys?

To be honest, Larry called me out to a street race in an email 2 weeks ago! I thought we could bring this to the C6 performace section for some scientific studies until a safe test run can be ironed out. I like HRP! Larry likes hyw 59 . We may have to flip for it.

I was shocked after knowing larry for 15 years and knowing that he does not street race.. I guess he really wants a peice of some of this Exotic metal .. He claims only an Airraid but he has the meanest die grinder I have ever seen! Makes jaws look like mouse teeth.

Some of thse 5.5 (2003-2006) motors run 11.8 to 12.4 bone stock, so this may be why you LS3 guys are having to guess who will win... 1000lbs heavier, I would expect to see a little more LS3 confidence.. The 5.5 guys on the Benz forums are not concerned with the C6 , as some have 08 Vettes and 5.5Kompressor Benzes.

Larry, you have an airraid? how about we get our one mod too? Just a little pulley from Auto specailties? One mod for one mod?

"Scientific studies" Haha! I bet your scientific studies will beat me every time, scientifically. What about real racing?

No HRP for me again! Not after the ridiculous experience I had there the last time. They have no concept of first come first serve! Now on 59 at 6 am in the morning I wouldn't even have to break the speed limit and our little race would be over. 20-70 mph and done! Only your crying would be left! LOL!

You really don't want me to go to the die grinder now do you Brooke? Things would only get worse.

Now you are talking about three mods to yours? You already have two intake mods and now you want to up the boost with the pulley. That's three mods to my one!

A totally stock LS3 is typically a 12.2 - 12.4 with a pretty good driver. A well driven one can do better, but that is the old test between stab and steer (MB) and row your own (LS3). The LS3 airraid isn't going to add much power in a 20-70 run and the tune on these cars can be really fat from the factory.

If reported times of 11.8 to 12.1 for the MB are not flukes or from mineshaft weather, that's damn fast for stock and probably good enough to win 3 out of 4 times.

Come on Larry, Kick Some Mercedes ***!!!

How are you comparing a supercharger pulley to an air raid? You do have the mercedes with a supercharger, right? If you want to have the same mod, just take out the air filter!

This will just end up with another N/A Corvette beating another supercharged car! ...Who's with me?

Cool

Will be a close race for sure but I'm still leaning towards the Corvette.

Both of these guys are friends of mine, but unless Larry whips out his HP Tuners and updates the tune on his LS3, I feel that the timing retard due to IAT and ECT will spell death against the Mercedes in summer weather. May the best man win!

Brooke (99RedHawk) even has Patrick awake. How are things down there in Victoria?

I think in this heat I wouldn't have a chance at the track. No way to keep IATs below 86*. I lose 3* starting at 86*. From a roll on the highway where ambient is below 86* then Brooke better watch out. That's why we have to do it at 6am in the morning!

Can't do any tuning or bye bye 5 year/100K mile warranty. Can't even return it back to stock tuning now without GM knowing with their new technology. And it doesn't matter even if it's only a fan change.

Look at the power to weight ratio folks! As speeds climb the Vette will walk that Benz. Its basically like running a 500 whp Cobra packing even a few more pounds. The total is about 800-1000 pounds more than the Vette! This should be hilarious. Keep us posted! Try a dig and 20 roll each should be no problem. BTW- Is that whp on the Mercadez or crank?

Sounds like a job for the old MAFT and timing trickers. I wonder if you update the plug connections and at least be able to dial in the MAF and get the WOT AFR in line and tell the PCM that it is 20* cooler than actual.

I think those would be impossible to detect when removed.

Larry, you call real Racing 20-70 mph????? That would be about 1.5 seconds of a race.. Without going into all our physical differences and age.. Lets just say that after all the many years you have been racing,, your ankles have to be a lot stiffer than mine.. So even with modern medicines, it would probaly still take you 1.5 seconds to push the pedal down.. The so called 20-70 mph thing/race or whatever you call it would be over.. You would just be looking at Benz flashers by then buddy..

Come on,, I am a long term LS1-3 fan but let`s have a fair race.. I do not care aobut the AIRRAID mod but tuning would be a different story (just like me adding a pulley).. The only mod on the AMG 55 has is the charcoal cabin and HEPA filter change to nuetralize all the pollution you are spewing my way..

Fastvet

I am not comparing, that was just a jab at Larry having a mod worth .10 or so. He knows the ASP pulley will be on in the next week or so,,, so he better hurry! Yes, it is the super charged model with water to air intercooler and is a precision Lyshom charger. It is clutch operated by the PC and kicks in at 2700 RPM. Normal driving is N/A with Boost on demand!!
