Default MTI Houston

I was told last night that MTI in Houston is closing the doors, will be selling high end cars.
Im wondering what will happen to people that have warranties on their products, or people that paid the tunes and they have the database on their Dyno computer! !

Instead of stirring the pot, why don't you call them yourself and report back?

What happens when any other business closes or goes out of business? "Lifetime" tunes and warranties are describing the life of the company that offers them, not the consumer. They aren't much good if a company closes, how is this so hard to understand?

Saw this coming a while back. My cousin had a great setup built for him a while back,...and started to notice changes in the company over time,..mostly for the worse. I think they have rcently tryied a last effort stand by trying to work on all MARKS/BRANDS but, for numerous reasons i'm sure, obviously didn't work out.

Someone asked about there camshafts,.....yes, they're usually very well spec'd out camshafts...primarily they're motor/nitrous cams.

...Sucks, I believe they were the first to go 9's in a C5,...way back when. 422ci nitrous car. Sucks to see them go.

i had their Z07 package in my vette...i think in about 8K miles, the motor blew up... heres why:
3 bent valves
cracked epoxy in the heads (which leaked oil into the intake manifold)
1/2" slack into double roller timing chain due to bent teeth
Scorched 4 cylinders of my C5R block
wrong springs used in heads (LT1 springs)
im sure there is more i am missing, but i spend damn near 2K in parts alone to re-built this motor.

i tried contacting them for help and figuring out warranty issues, etc...nope, nothing, no response. i was damn close to getting on a plane and going to their front door and ripping someone a new one!!!

whatever, good luck to those guys, their reputation is in the shitbox.

Let's all CRAP on a shop with NEARLY TWO DECADES of experience and postive press...

The bandwagon jumpers should stay on corvetteforum.com (p#$$ies)

A few people had issues (and there's two sides to every story).... does that mean that an entire volume of buyers (nearly two decades of glowing reviews -most publicly-) are worth NOTHING??!

I like them personally, I knew the former owner and the new one... good guys in my book.

Not jumping on any wandwagon.

Unfortunately, most people / shops / tuners are remembered for their latest work. They should have quit why they were ahead instead of limping along like a dead rat.

Don't know why you have to make a derogortory comment about the corvette forum as that has nothing to do with this post.

You're right, there are two sides to every story, so if MTI wants to post their side they are welcome to do so.

Im no bandwagon jumper either. I have dealt with MTI of Houston before with my car and I will say that I know why they are shutting down. The customer service is by far the worst I have ever had to deal with. The people I dealt with there were very rude and they absolutly DO NOT like to refund money on a part that was returned or purchased and took a month to recieve (but found a better deal and quiker service and better service inbetween). They dont like to answer their phones nor will they return messages. They told me point blank over the phone (when they did answer) that the customers in the shop spending money mean more to them than customers who call in to spend money. Not good business practices at all. So with that said, I dont care how long they have been in business or how many customers were pleased with their work/service. I for one wasnt and thats my opinion on MTI of Houston.
