Default Huge dissapointment - nearly full bolt-on car - high 12's at 105?

I've seen stock LS1's run the times I ran at the track...

My 60' times were in the 1.8's..

Ran back to back 12.8's at 105

I have the following:
Longtubes + ORY + Catback
LS6 Intake + Ported TB
Lid + K&N
Yank SS3600 Converter
Tune
Prostars + Greg weld skinnys and 555R's out back

Could the humidity and relatively high temperature have killed my times that much? I've seen stock LS1 cars run better... My A/F is good, lauches stuck but weren't phenominal 60' wise with the 1.8's... I tried flashing and loading the converter and both yeilded similar results. The thing thats killing me is the trap.. My old Z28 had the same mods minus the LS6 intake and Ported TB and ran quicker and faster on stock wheels with 555r's out back. Was the weather that big of a factor or do you think there's something else going on?

You cant base the performance of the car on two passes.

There are many factors in the tuning, DA weather at the track and traction..

So what is the weather and elevation of the track you ran at? Did you have it dyno tuned to see what it put down?

Bolt-on cars run better on stock converters?? Thats the first time I've ever heard that...

Weather was approx 80 degrees and relative humidity... Elevation is 410ft

I know you can't base a cars performance solely on two passes but looking at most peoples results on here and my past passes at the track and how the car feels compared to my old ls1 z28 with less mods I just wanted to get outside input.

The car wasn't dyno tuned, it was just tuned with a wideband but my AF was great throughout the rpm range at part and wot, very little adjustments were necessary...

I'd say you are off a little bit. I'd say you should be in the 12.5 range and probably at least 107mph. Weather could be a factor for that. I know my old 98Z with similar mods ran 2 tenths slower in hotter/humid weather. Your mph is what seems off the most. Theres stock autos pulling close to that mph.

As far as putting the stock converter back in, don't do that, extremely bad advice. Check out my sig, my stock converter is killing my times. Thats probably the worst thing you could do. If you did that, say goodbye to your 1.8 60 foot times. I'd say look at your tuning again.

Try and find a way to get some data logs next time you run the car. Maybe someone local has a cable & HP Tuners that can help you out. You might be pulling some timing due to false knock, etc. Might want to look at obvious things too like the MAF - is it clean, or are the wires caked up? Read the plugs, how recent is the fuel filter? Etc. You get the gist.

I have to agree with this. I recently went to the track and my best was a 7.8x 1/8 mile at around 88. Well I took the filter out and ended up running a 7.55 at 92mph. The thing is I forgot to plug my IAT back in and it was reading -38 degrees so it was pulling timing which made it run better. Just a thought or something to look into.

Yeah guys the times and more specifically the trap just seems terrible to me. Especially considering what my 99 z28 ran with less mods (12.46-12.62 @ 108ish - found the old slips)... I took out the filter on the last run of the night and trapped the exact same but spun so my time was worse...
MAF is nice and clean, filter good, fuel filter is new, spark plugs are new, wires are not... I dunno... Maybe I'll go weigh the car today, it had the spare tire in, but I can't imagine it weighing entirely too much more than the z28 did... Not to mention the great deal of rotational mass I've gotten rid of with the prostars/gregs/skinnies combo over my old chrome z28 wheels on the z28...

Something is definitely wrong. I'd do a compression check next.

is it a M6 or A4 I am having the same issue and I am boltons and cam I was running crap times and i had pretty decent launches and I was trapping lik 13.0 and 107 and **** like that. I am A4 my tuner told me launch it in D instead of OD because there is no stall lockup tuned in OD so I am waiting until friday to see if that changes it if not now I have to start looking at the tune.

Were you at gateway for midnight madness? Yeah with a cam and heads and stall you should be running a lot quicker and faster.. What were your 60' times? That could explain the slow times, but your MPH is also pretty low.

well the weather def played a role in those times, but how many miles on the trans? is it stock besides the converter? you could have a slipping trans and not even notice it because of the stall. i just ran a 12.45@108 with a 1.76 60ft in pretty good weather full weight 3740 on 17" mt dr's. just re-did the trans...mods in sig...

I'd go buy some dyno pulls, and get someone to log your engine while doing the pulls. That will tell you alot. Do a pull with the converter locked, then unlocked. You can tell from that if you have a slipping tranny or not. Log your timing so you can tell if your getting knock retard or not.

Good point about slipping tranny. As far as the weather, I have lost 3/10's and 2-3mph with bad air. Get a few more runs in and check the basics first air/fuel filters, plugs, wires, maf, ect.

how would you know if your trans is slipping I am having the same problem and have a idea what is going on but I have to wait to go to the track and see if I am right.
