I would launch around 4,000 on real good drag radials. I have used about every brand on the market and none hook like Mickeys. That should put you deep in the 8's.

shift at 6000 rpm i saw that you said you were shifting at 5500. Launch a lil higher around 2500(that's what i launch my vette with on Street tire's). Then just start experimenting how fast you can slip the clutch and get into the gas. The faster you slip the clutch the more it's gonna bite and the faster you can get into the gas.

it looks like your launching wayyy too soft. DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH. Between that and adding weight in the trunk, thats about the stupidest thing ive ever heard....

drop your tire pressure a lil, 24-26 psi and try launching at 3500rpm with a quick slip. dont dump the clutch, youre only going to spin or bog. I used to cut low 1.8 60's on a regular old 90 dollar 245 50 16 sumitomo street tire in my 4th gen fbodies.

On a good drag radial, you can launch higher

The OP stated he didn't want to make any mods........which means is trying to get as much as he can out of his current set up. That would include tires. He's probably on a budget.

i used to cut 1.8 and 1.9 on 245 fuzions. granted that was with an auto. i ran 8.5's at 84/85 pretty regularly. i feel like your 6 speed should trap alot higher than 81/82 mph..

i wouldn't put too much stock in the 81/82mph trap. in a stock m6 car that really doesn't mean much except that he lacked traction. i've trapped 80 in the 1/8 before with 60' times almost identical to his. due mainly to spinning and general pussyfooting 1st and 2nd gear. ran out the 1/4 to anywhere from 108-110.

i think he just needs some practice. m6 cars are so much fun, but going to the track with them is like walking on eggshells with everything riding on that 10 bolt. so much is lost because any attempt at a good launch usually results in a ride home on the rollback.

i had over 300 passes on my a4 car with a stock rear and 373s. i had no fear. i'm afraid to get on this car on the street out of fear that i'll break it. a 9" would be perfect, but damn..they're pricey.

With full exhaust and a K&N intake, my buddy went 8.9@82mph with a 2.1 60' in my pewter Z last year. That has since improved... ALOT

In my old M6 TA, my best run was with a horrible 2.2 60' but I went 8.9@ just a hair over 87mph. Had shorties, catback, and a lid, no tune. Could never bust that car out of 8.90s to save my life on 275 radials. My problem was that I could shift like crazy, just could never get the launch down.

I'm sure most everyone knows what they're talking about, and you've got enough feedback so I won't offer mine. But I WILL say, don't drop your tire pressure too low. DRs will lay flat on the contact patch when they're dropped. Drop your street radials too low, and the tire will begin to buckle.

Oh and BTW - my runs were on a track just 300 ft above sea level, and the other around 80 ft above sea level. Not sure of the DA.

24-26psi, 3500rpm, quick slip of the clutch and shift at 6k. Shifts need some work too. youll drop tenths off of your et and pick up some mph if you can row gears fast

I'll add my $0.02 as well. If you haven't done a tune up on your car for a while give that a try. Sometimes the most simple overlooked steps are the most important.

When my car was stock with 75k miles it traped 78mph in the 1/8th. Horrible.

Then I did a FULL tune up. Talking about spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil, trans flush, radiator flush, MCCC, the whole nine yards. I also added full exhaust.

Now it's traping 86mph in the 1/8th. I know the exhaust helped, but there's no way I gained 8mph in the 1/8th mile from exhaust alone. A full tune up can free up a few MPH, that's for sure.

i dunno. my car went from 80 to 87 in the 1/8 from full exhaust. bone stock to headers with true duals. also added an INefficient converter haha. later got swapped for a yank and picked up 3 mph.
