Default 8.471@160.42 na

Since we could not run at the LSX shootout because we have a four link, Morgan and I said what the hell. We both know a four link doesn't add any horsepower so to prove a point to some pinheads I spent $17,000.00 and took out the turbo 400 and replaced it with a liberty like the other fast NA cars.

Well second run with the new set up and an adjustment on the clutch 8.47@160.42.
Made no changes to the 4 link after removing the turbo 400. Car still is at 3180 with driver.

Took the guys from Proline Race-engines with me and of course the best tuner in the country the one, the only Steve Petty. He cleaned up a few errors in the maps and away we went. Steve thinks the old 427 C5R has some 8.30 in her.

Will post the time slip and video up Monday or Tuesday.

So I know it's a four link and boy look at the horsepower it gained. With the auto it only went 8.70s with the four link so I guess it just needed adjusting.

LOL!!! Couldn't run the class b/c you were on a 4 link, but the only other NA competition was running a Liberty clutchless behind more inches???

Things that make you go hhhmmm

I wanted see these two cars go heads up as they sat, but I guess it's too late for that. Now that the little old 427 is .03 quicker with some fluff left over, the 4 link will still be the "advantage" LMAO

Big congrats on the new numbers Bobby... been a looong time coming and am happy for you and Morgan. Wish I'd known Woody and the car was at Commerce. I said the same thing Petty did.... dat biotch gots a .30sumptin in it as it sits... hellfire... pull 300lbs. and tap on a 8.0h's. For that matter, retire those old C5R's for a set of ALL PRO's and pull that baby cam for something more suited toward the effort and tap on 7.9x's ALL MOTOR!!!! .... but... but... but... "you got a 4 link!!!"

Thanks it has been a long trip. Steve wants to get it faster as is. I can now run the 8.50 index class. I may put it on a diet and try for a 7 but for now it's ok. I may just put the same set up in a different car maybe a 3rd gen, lol.

Nice work! Curious to see how you guys find the consistancy to be vs the three speed. Not to detract from the great accomplishment, but 3150 is a far cry from SAM's 3500 lbs. Would be nice to see these various setups racing in a venue with reasonable rules.

Thanks for the wow. I never figured I would get a mid 8 but a stick did it. Auto was the first goal getting it in the high 8s. Hope Petty is right and we can get it in the low 8s with a few more tunes and clutch adjustments. DA was at 2100 last Friday. Its never good in Atlanta.

Well they can take 350 pounds out and see how fast they can go. I spent the money on a liberty, it cant cost that much to remove weight can it? It would be great to see a race at the same weight.

Come on down to Valdosta track (sgmp) in dec/jan time frame. We get negative DAs as much as -1500 during the day. Allot of us is hoping for new PBs this winter. 3 T&T scheduled so far for Dec, 4th, 11th and 18th. The 11th looks the most promising for the best negative DA.

Congrats, that thing is hauling!

I read where you had problems with your previous engine builder, sorry to hear about all of those problems, glad you got it worked out.

What is the current intake setup? I assume it no longer has the forward facing TB?

No longer has the forward facing tb. If weather permits this week and next week hoping to go 30's or lower. Again at ATL the da was 2100. Hope to catch some lower da in south GA. in the next two weeks.

Thanks it has been a very long project. The automatic was fun but the liberty is wow. Same old motor but it has more in her. Will be testing some different cams over the winter to see if I can squeezzzz some more out of it since it is a small cam compaired to others.

You know not droping 800 to 1000 rpms at shifts is a blast. Still trying to figure out the clutch for now. Is was to tight on the 8.47 run and short shifted 2 to 3 and 3 to 4. Got to hit the the shift points better but more seat time will do that. This was the first time with the new set up. Have only made three trips down the track. First run was just finding the first clutch adjustment and went 8.54 spinning out of the hole.

Nice job ZO6 CU...
Those types of trannys get banned or weight penalized for good reason. They're awesome.

Nothing suspicious about it...

Stock chassis/suspension has been the rule since the beginning when GM High Tech sponsored these events.

Liberties are legal and carry a weight penalty.
Cubic inches, multiple T/B's, sheetmetal intakes, dry sumps, canted valves, ALL carry weight penalties also...
