The car has a stock shortblock, MS3, PRC 2.5 heads, Ported Fast 92/92, EWP, A4 with a Vig 3600, 12 Bolt 4.10's, M/T 295/55/15, Formato SD Tune, and weighs 3325 with me. Thanks to anyones thread that I've previously received good information from, because without this board I would be in the dark.
1. What RPM's are you shifting at?
2. If the car produced 429 HP on the dyno was that on a dyno jet?
3. What is the compression ratio?
4. Since you are on a SD tune is it running pump gas or race gas?
You also mentioned in your previous post that you are considering a TH400 swap and a looser convertor. Just remember your 4 spd auto has a first gear of 3.08 and a TH400 will have a first gear of 2.48 so you will lose a little torque off the line. The TH400 will eat up more horsepower as well but if you choose the correct convertor the car will run the numbers you are looking for. For what it is worth I think the convertor you have now is why the car is not running the number you are looking for.
Good luck and be safe, keep us posted!

Congrats on your times and progress thanks for posting and welcome to the board. I have a few questions for you.
1. What RPM's are you shifting at?
2. If the car produced 429 HP on the dyno was that on a dyno jet?
3. What is the compression ratio?
4. Since you are on a SD tune is it running pump gas or race gas?

The DA at the time of the pass was only 402 so I guess I picked a good night to go. The next day at Orlando Speedworld it was 800 in the middle of the afternoon and ran similar numbers. I'm not excited about summer coming back so I'm getting in all the passes I can.

Chrs1313 I have the free ram air mod and I just installed your ram air a few minutes ago. WOW! Pictures don't do that ram air justice because it's huge and no wonder cars are picking up 2mph. Should be going to the track in the next 2 weeks and I'll keep you posted on the results. Thanks for an awesome product by the way!

I'm shifting the car at 6600 in first and 6650 in second according to my previous logs. I believe the car is commanded to shift at 37MPH from 1-2 and 69 from 2-3. Yes, that dyno number was on a dynojet with the converter unlocked. I believe the compression is 10.9:1, the heads are out of the box PRC 5.3 heads using a GM MLS gasket. Also, I'm running pump gas and I'd like to thank 7-11 for a fantastic product lol. Thanks for the information on the converter and I'm waiting on Marty from Neal Chance to give me a call back so I can go over my combo/choices.
Good luck!

With that cam, heads and intake I would suggest moving the 1-2 to 6,650 and the 2-3 to 6,800, think of it this way the engine is only at that RPM for a split second and then it falls back after the shift and the higher the shift the more efficient the power band is to help the car accelerate down the tack. No doubt on your next outing it is going to run a 10 second time slip in the low DA's you are running in.
Good luck!

I am letting a private tuner do my tune on my new setup and I want to get the most out of the combo. It will be a stock bottom end lq9/ls3 heads/235/243cam/etc build. I don't want to spin to the moon but I know people spin to 6500 or so pretty often. I do like to have fun with my car though when it comes out on the street. I drive it about a week and have 3-4 WOT runs while driving. I do 1/8 mile, 373s, 4000 converter.
Sorry..

Lemons I will definetely keep you informed on the ram air change. I'm probably going to put my shift points back for a direct comparison and change them after I get a couple of passes in.

N2 thanks for the advice I just changed the shift MPH up to 38 for the 1-2 and 71 for the 2-3. I checked my log and my shift extension on the 1-2 is 6600 to 5000. Is that bad? I'm assuming it is because I had the converter setup for my original setup which was a stock motor with a 125-150 shot. Also, cars I see on the fastest NA 346 list mostly have converters larger than mine. Thanks again for your help.

yeah the ss4000 has been excellent to me and my car from cam only to heads and cam...best 60ft to date cam only was 1.35 and now heads and cam 1.291...she will now put it on the bumper in the cold air, so I got some travel limiters this fall

Chris.. what was your best or better yet average 60 before a lot of weight reduction? I'm just trying to get an idea.. like what were you cutting at around a 3450# or so race weight? Average DA would be a huge plus if you know it.
I am at 380rw cutting 1.50-1.52 short times BARELY spinning. DA was around 2000+ on all those passes. i had a very respected member tell me I should switch from my ptc 4000 to a ss4000. I just don't see picking up much, if any, in the 60 making that switch.

On the bumper! Holy cow! I'm really starting to lean towards a ss4000 because of the results you've had with that converter. I bought a PC680 Odyssey battery and I'm getting a VFN pin on hood to get some more weight off the nose. Hopefully with less weight I can see some 1.4's with the small converter. After I break into the 1.4's I will make a switch to a bigger converter in hopes of quicker times.

Little update on the car! I went to the local 1/8 mile strip again and after adding some Afco front coil overs combined with the chrs1313 ram air the car went 6.83@98.4. The car went from a best 60' of 1.51 down to a 1.48. I'm really happy with the results and I still need to put my VFN hood on the car combined with Burkhart spindles and 3rd gen Strange brakes. Thanks to TRZ for the Afcos and giving my some advice at the racetrack tonight. Hopefully I'll see some better times in the near future.
