Default '95 formula, Bolt on 6.0 goes 10's

80k mile LQ4 shortblock, un ported 243's, stock ls6 cam, Mixed/matched ARP rod bolts.
Finally ditched the ls1 intake and stock ported TB for a Fast 90 I had to epoxy back together, and hand ported/smoothed myself, bolted on an eBay 92mm TB, added a set of 12"x3" collector extensions. Also swapped in a walbro 255 after the GM-replacement pump started falling off, the stock 28.8lb injectors are maxed out now.

Right after this pass, with a 10 minute cool down, I backed it up with this:

It's right at 3150 sitting in the beams.

It's got a little more left in the 60' with a better tire. It comes out harder on a 2k launch, but spins 5ft out. So all my passes that hooked (1.4x 60') were only on a 1500rpm launch.
An 8.8" with 3.90 gears, and a set of m/t 275 pros are in store for it over the winter. Id like to see it go 6.70's with the stock cam

Then it's time for a REAL cam, and shoot for 10.50's,

Ultimate goal, with built shortblock (365ci) is to go 9.90's n/a

Thanks, I wish I had a motor that made good power like yours. Right now it's making 362rwhp. One of these days I'd like to send the heads to advanced induction and have their 226cc port job done, and swap out the eBay 1 5/8" headers for some ARH, or TSP 1 7/8" units. After a cam of course.

From here on out, all the go fast parts are gonna get real expensive. It was relatively cheap up until now. But power costs money. Lol

Awesome method and killer results. It boggles my mind how guys are running these kinds of times with minimal power. What sort of weight reduction has been done? What's the word on the suspension, gear and converter if you don't mind me asking?

I've since done some weight reduction, added a Yank 3600 and 3.73s since the times in my sig, but haven't been to the track. I've given the local scene hell though.

There's a guy on here that just swapped his 1 5/8 for 1 7/8 and picked up 15whp from it. Sounds crazy but he had numbers on same dyno.

It's got a street Edge converter that was spec'd for my 320rwhp lt1 and was rated at "3400rpm" I'm sure it's a little looser than that now with the added power. I've got a PA racing tubular front end and strange single adjustables upfront. Stock springs/shocks on the rear. I stole a 3.73 from an s10 in a junkyard. Ditched the HVAC and power steering, that's really all.

Texastarnation: that's what I like to hear! I'm sure that 15hp was on an already healthy motor that needed the extra flow, but it's still 15rwhp no matter how you slice it. I'm sure with an aftermarket cam with considerably more overlap, it will want a much better flowing header.
Still a toss up between TSP 1 7/8, or to for broke, and get ARH 1 7/8..

I'm liking the sound of this so far. Same gears, similar stall and similar exhaust here. Granted you're running what's basically a lower compression LS2 to my LS1, but the difference in that shouldn't be too vast. The K-member and Weld wheels are a big weight reduction.

I'd **** my pants if I managed 11s on a perfect day at Atco, much less breaking into the 10s. I know it happens based on how ridiculous the bolt on and cam only list looks, but I can't imagine how I can get my own car to do the same.

Thanks for sharing the details on your build. Any pics?

I totally see your point however, it seems as though the OP merely took a
"bucket of bolts" approach to duplicate an iron block version of what GM
calls an LS2. He could probably put together 3 more of these "may-pop"
combos for what he'd pay for a good salvage Vette or GTO aluminum motor.
LOL..Do you aggree that to a certain extent some titles are a bit misleading ??
Like the laundry list of stuff that falls under the cam-only heading....when we
envision someone merely replaced a cam/p-rods/&springs ???? 2 me both of
your cars arrived at a very quick number via different paths yet EXTREMELY impressive to say the least.....

Well being majority of these motors have been cracked open , I consider my setup sorta cam only, but mostly because I'm running stock castings that I've milled, but that's the only modification to the head.. Stock truck valves etc.. Either way the facts get blurred , and I look at if you have a stock unported casting , then you fall into the cam only area., minute u open up that runner.. Your obviously h /c..etc.. If he's running stock castings , stock cam then he's bolt on, even though he's changed to another stock cathedral casting.. He won't be Allowed on the bolt on ls1 list I'm sure, because he isn't running one..

I dont consider it a bolt on only longblock, it has the heads and cam out of an LS6.

But it is very impressive for using OEM stuff. Id just change the title to so its not as misleading. Nice results!

I agree with you guys and I'm not bashing the OP by any means. That's a great time with stock parts I was just wanted to make sure I wasn't wrong before I told my buddies about the car and showed them the video

Oh no, I'm not trying to say I've got a 10sec bolt on ls1. Actually, the title says bolt on 6.0, not bolt on lq4.

I just threw something together with what I had Laying around the garage. I have about as much in my motor, fully dressed as-is, as a complete fully dressed ls1 would cost. and it seems as If it would be tough to get a box-stock 346 ls1 to run what I have with what I've got.

I really wish I could find an aluminum 4.00" bore block to swap my internals in. That's an easy 110lbs off the nose. Should make for a much more impressive launch.
