Unhappy 02 TA M6-Cam Only Slow times

Went to a local test and tune at Famoso Raceway. The track was very sticky and I was battling a bog issue all day. I first tried a 3k rpm launch and it bogged very bad and resulted in a 2.3 60'. On my last pass I took up it to about 4800rpms and that resulted in my best 60' which was 1.9. It was quite frustrating not being able to get a decent 60' all day.

My MPH was quite low as well.
87.48 in the 1/8
111.64 in the 1/4.
I was hoping for 115-116 based on my HP of 420.
DA was +1599 for the day and I know that could have played a part as well.

60': 1.971
ET: 12.730
MPH: 111.64

Based on the video can anyone think as to why my car is running so slow? I think it may be the stock gears and possibly slow shifting by myself... The car just doesn't leave very hard at all...

Shifting will get you alittle more, not letting it bog. How was your car tuned? If on a dyno was it load based? Numbers don't mean alot on a dyno, if you jit the street and under wot it pulls timing due to knock. Do you know what your timing is set at?

My gto isn't far from that and weighs more and worse da than that run. You should definately be faster than that.

It was tuned using HP Tuners on a Superflow dyno. Timing was set at 28* and no knock was present. I am thinking its a combination of bogging and a need for lower gears. What should a cam only, full weight ls1 be trapping?

My first track experience in my 416rwhp WS6 gave me a 12.8@113, installed a shift light and the next time I went to the track I went 12.1@117. In the warmer weather I trapped 116-117 in my full weight WS6, 17's all round on DR's, 6 speed, 10 bolt, 4:10s. In cold weather I went 11.9@120.

Good to know! This indeed was my first time to the track with the Trans Am. How were you launching your car and at what RPM? I had to rev it up to 4500-4800 and slip it off the line(scared to break the 10 bolt) and I still managed to bog... Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Well based on HP tuners my tach is about 500rpm off at redline. We have the limiter set at 6800rpm and I shift at 6500rpm. However, per my tach, I am shifting at 6k...

After watching my launch over and over I have come to the conclusion that the front sway bar is what is affecting my 60'. The front rises then drops instantly and I believe its due to the sway bar dragging the front down upon launch.

Hoping to gain .2 in the 60' once removed... Anyone have a similar experience?

And it certainly felt like it until the front end got drug down almost immediately after. I will be pulling off the front sway bar this weekend and do some testing.

Almost certain that is what is holding me back... You can clearly see in the vid that it picks up and then falls on its face.

Get your tires a little warmer. Get rid of sway bar. 3.73 gears you will be good to go.

Your on track w/ sway bar removal, If your pretty serious about weekend warrior stuff, Next 3 mods 1. heavy duty clutch 2. two step 3. a quality 9" rear w/ lower gears, if your going to stay N/A, 4.30's..depending on tire height..
