OK. I promised to update everyone since my son was actually correct. He kept saying my "bolt on" 'bird had a LS6 cam. We did a cam swap on my car and lo and behold...found a 02+ LS6 cam in my car. I must admit that I was w...wr...wr...wr...wrong (ling sigh) and he was right. Man that was hard to admit! ha

He installed a cam and converter in his car as well and honestly beat me on our return trip to the track. Since we are almost dead even on power I bought a "real" LG Motorsports cam and Fast intake. Now I need to get a tune then return to the track to retrieve my bragging rights. ;-)

Woot woot!!! I was RIGHT!! also found out my Trans was slipping! Installed new built Trans and now my shift points are off about 600-800 rpms! And put a pi 3200 in and took out the crazy loose vig 3600 so I can drive the dang thing my line pressures are all jacked now with the new Trans cause my old was slipping so bad. So now it's parked also waiting on a tune.. can't wait to get back to the track and get that 4 mph I was missing on my trap and break into then11s!

Cool thread man. I wish you guys were closer. Your story is quite similar to ours. My wife and I found my Dad's old car and rebuilt it for him while sneaking in a built LS1. We all 3 compete against eachother, but while taking turns in the same car. But we just picked up a Catfish to run against the old bird. Spring is going to be a BLAST. For the record, my wife is the current record holder in Dad's car. In her first season ever racing, she layed down an 11.20 to Dad's 11.21 and my 11.22 Crazy huh? We show the car too.
You and your boy keep having fun and be safe. Those memories will last forever for sure.

Nice! We have both been upgrading and my boy kicked my butt in November the last day the track was open. I ran an 11.90 at 118 with a slipping clutch and he went 11.20 at 121. Time for more upgrades! LOL

Broward county?? You mean fla? Maimi area?

Well, we finally got the cars out the other day for a spin. It's been a long winter here near Chicago. We both did a little weight reduction and some other minor mods. I installed a monster stage 3 clutch, forged my bottom end, ported the heads and went to a solid roller set up over the winter. You can check out my build thread here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/nitrous-o...ous-build.html

Can't wait to get back to the track.
