Default ran the 1/8 mi tonight.... something is really fu@#$d up please help!!!

well first time to track in 1 1/2 yrs and im pissed. last time with a lid and longtubes on street tires i ran a 13.1 @ 108 and a 8.4 in the 1/8 mi. well the car is way more modded now. full bolt on,4000 stall,ms3 cam, some suspension parts in sig have been returned to stock, only got lca's and a panhard bar. runnin on 18"c6zo6 wheels and hoosier dr's. this is what was happening tonight. when it would hook, the car would loose all power, gauges drop as if car shut off but was still running,i would let off gas and then mash it again and everything was good. on those passes i would run a 9.3 at 86 with 2.3 60'. the cutting out would last prob 2 seconds or so. had a few passes where i left half throttle past 100' then mash it and ran a few 8.6 at 86 with a 2.1 60'. could the belts be slipping when dead hooks and i just got to much power and the belts are slippin? or maybe a loose ground strap? im totally confused on this. ready to burn the car down. car should run 7.7-7.5 easy

Forgot to say car runs hard unless it gets traction.

You need to strap your battery down. That's all.

I agree, mine did the exact same last Friday. Positive post arced against the air conditioning dryer when I took off and the car shut off.

When my ect sensor was coming unplugged it would cut engine power all of a sudden then start working again. The connector housing was broke on it. Not sure if the gauges went all crazy when that happened. Probably not the problem your having but its worth a quick check. It would only do that when jarred hard at the drag strip.

Sounds like it might be a power connection somewhere like the battery that was said.

Mine had the same problem but it was the battery, replaced the battery, problem solved!! I was told by 2 different racers with more experience that a plate in the battery was shifting and grounding out against the next one, don't know for sure but a new Optima solved the problem!! Good Luck!

Seems like a common thing that happens, my battery hold down was loose on mine and would never tighten down good and so was the one on my dad's car 2000 model.
