First pass in 5 years...
I got to make my first pass at the strip in a little over 5 years this past Sunday...
Back story is I went through a divorce in 2009 and had to sell my 1999 Trans Am... I took the car from a 14.0 @99 stocker to an 11.97 @ 114 with used parts, free mods, lots of tune work and help from my buddies...
A friend hit me up on Facebook and told me he saw my car on Craigslist. I called the owner and we struck a deal. I brought the car back home in September and set to work. The car needed a transmission since 2nd gear was gone. Otherwise, the car was just as I had sold it only a little dirtier with a couple of bruises I'll fix eventually...
I traded for a nearly new rebuilt trans and reused the UCC 3200 converter I put in the car just before I sold it. PTC refreshed it for cheap.
I put my old tune in it from back in the day and bought some Weld RTS wheels and put it back on a drag radial and dumped the cutout and catback. I had a local guy fab up some duals with Summit single chambers...
We had great weather this past Sunday and the local track was open for testing... A buddy and I headed down and tried our luck... My old best from 09 with a very loose 3500 converter was as I said above, an 11.97 @ 114... which was a goal of mine years ago, 11's on motor...
The first pass off the street after a 30 minute cooldown was 12.23 @ 116... The old girl still had some moves... I tried again about an hour later and spun bad... water on the track... went around and tried again with no cool down... 12.15 @ 117...
My old car with the same setup it's had since 2005, a fresh converter and new exhaust ran within .18 of it's best ET and picked up 3 mph on a tenth worse 60 foot... it gained 29 mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4...
I know it isn't fast compared to a lot of folks here but I built it, it's stayed together and in the almost 10 years since I started messing with it, the car is still going strong after 350+ 1/4 mile passes and 118 thousand miles... I love the stupid thing...
I'm thinking a modern cam and a little weight reduction and I'll have a solid 11 second street car...
I'm just happy to be back...
Thanks for reading...

This post is great, glad to see you got your car back and it's still making great power.
A little more stick and you're well into the 11's, I don't think you need to dump any weight at all to get there.

It was nice to meet you. I was in the SOM Camaro SS and spoke with you. I doubt it was water on the track. I only hooked once out of 3 times.....great weather, poorly prepped track. (They usually do a good job, just not that day)
