The plan is to go th400 and ford 9inch. Will probably run on the motor and throw a top end kit at it(cam, springs, intake, etc) and see how it does. Probably spray it with a little bit.

If I'm not happy with it, ill fab up a turbo kit this winter.

They have a no prep event toward the end of next month I am thinking about getting the car ready for. I will need alot better time to compete.
Our cars are somewhat similar. Mine is a 99 M6 Z28 that I picked up for double what you paid, BUT I had a TH400 waiting to go into a car already, so I traded the T56 for some parts and labor to get the TH400 going.

I bracket race my car only, it's not registered or insured. With the converter I have I wouldn't want to drive it around on the street very much, but I could if I wanted to, it just needs exhaust since it is open header.

I found a good deal on a S60, but I wanted that over a 9" because I never want to worry about the rear end again, same as the TH400. I'm sure it will need rebuilt at some, but it should live a long long time.

Good luck with your build, and have fun pissing people off who spend lots of money to do what you did on a budget! That's one of my favorite parts lol.

I was looking at the th400 package one of the guys has for sale in the classifieds on here, Hes about 3 hours from me, may go pick it up this week. Just not sure if I should buy a yank stall for my 4l60 or go straight to the th400. I need to make more power to cut some time down off my 1/4. Was going to do a self port job on the heads when I remove them to do lifters. the heads could use a good cleaning as well.

Get rid of the 4l60, don't put a dime into it. Just get the 400.

Hey guys so heres my voltage issue. Tested battery twice, had alternator tested 6 times in a row to try and simulate a little run time on it. When I start the car the battery voltage is really low when key is on, cranks slow, then starts and my diablo shows 13.7 and the gauge on the dash shows under 13. Gets lower and lower the more I run it, all the way to the point where it won't start the car. Let it sit for a few hours and then it will.

any ideas?

If the battery voltage is low with the key on you've likely got a weak battery even if it passes a test at an auto parts store. If you're convinced the battery and alternator is good then it's likely a grounding issue and the alternator isn't charging the battery well enough due to weak or poor grounding. Plenty of people remove the visible ground and make sure they don't have paint or primer underneath between the ground wire and the body. Another thing that can help us to run an additional ground between the block and the body. The bolt hole on the front of the passenger side head to the stud on the passenger shock tower makes a good spot to run another ground since that stud goes straight to the ground on the battery.

I'll add some grounds and see if that helps. i will check grounds for any issues. Also when I use the turn signals the voltage gauges moves up and down when the blinker signals.

Swapped in a good truck alternator, new interstate battery. Still have same issue. Voltage at battery is good. But dash shows under 13. When I put the car in gear it drops to voltage for a second then comes back up. Not sure what the issue is.

Well all the th400 deals have fell through. I did pick up a set of front runner hoosiers with wheels for a pretty good deal.

Looking for some input. I got around 400 to throw at before the next test and tune.

Not sure if I should pick something up with that or save it to say buy a cam kit in a couple of weeks. What do you guys think?

Get a spare alternator connector and convert it to a one-wire that doesn't run to the PCM. If it doesn't work, you can just plug back in the connector on the harness without it looking like a hack job.

Hey guys quick question looking for some input? Got a TH400 trans and need to get a converter for it. Question is
Do I get a converter that is setup for ls flex plate for $800-$1000
Or get a flexplate to go to old style TH400 converter? Can get the flexplate and stall for $500

What do you guys think?

call one of the sponsors here and see what they tell you. For reference, I run a 10" th400 midwest converter th400 with that $55 spacer and use the stock ls flywheel that i elongated the holes on. it's a 3k stall anti-ballooning I think I paid around 375 to my door 5 years ago.

The midwest I refer to is not a sponsor, just a local trans shop that local guys use, so that's how I found them and why I didn't list a phone # or location. You probably have local trans shop guys that can help

Got Midwest chassis torque arm installed and adjusted the rear shocks a little more. Still can’t get passed 12.5 @ 110.
I cant do anything better than a 1.90 60’.

Finishing up my abs delete this week and am talking with fti about a converter for the th400.

Picking up a set of 243 heads today. Will throw those on once I swap cams over the winter. Still need to do subframe connectors

Any other suggestions?

Yes stock ones right now. Going to some mild port work to them and then throw some dual valve springs and new valve seals at it.
