lets chat about this I have a 99 Z28 ls1/auto car. 3.23 gears and bone stock! Now Im only looking for 12s. I plan on trying to do the following to get there:
slp lid
converter (dunno what size)
Tune
Then go to this:
3.73 gears
maybe ls6 intake and 36lb injectors (dunno on throttle body size)
Shortly After that go this way:
cam
exhaust
suspension mods
I just honestly wanna see what I can do with less. Car is fun. Im sure Im beating a dead horse here just never see no documenting of this and I have looked. If Im starting wrong help me out here. I might be able to do with a simple gear change, converter, slp lid, and tune. I dunno. I will keep this updated.

Normal driving the 3600 is easily overlooked. I'm sure most passengers wouldn't even know you had a high stall converter.
The 3600 would be fine in a daily for sure. I imagine the the 4000 would be too.

You can get 12s without a converter. Long time ago I ran 12.80s with headers, duals, lid, and tune. Stock tires, 2.73 gears and stock converter. All it takes is getting that 60’ time down and lowering your tire psi. Don’t mat the throttle just get a little wheel speed.
Next mod was a 4K stall with mt radials and I ran 12.20s on a bad day.
4.10s and I then hit 11s.
No weight reduction. Stock weight. Still had all creature comforts.
The trick is in the 60’ time. Nail it and all you do then in an auto is enjoy the ride down track.
