Default 1/8th mile ls1 stock times

I was wondering if anyone dragged their car stock? I've gotta 1/8th mile track here and they don't prep for **** on practice night so it seems. So i have to launch off idle still squeeling the tires then squeel hitting second hard like almost side ways hard. That fastests i ever got was a 8.8 can't remember speed was a couple months ago fastest '60 2.289. I was stock all the way down to the tires

Thanks
john

Aren't 1/8th mile tracks better for stickercharged front-wheelers, versus our cars? There's this punk kid here at work who insists on running his goofy suped-up fart-cannon rockets on little tracks. He kept bugging me to go against his 97 Eclipse GST and wants me to run his 2004 EVO MR. I'll run him, but it seems like I'll run out of track before I pull past him on an 1/8th-mile.

Well if they are awd (i have very little ricer knowledge like whitch ones awd and not) they come out like a **** so i would say it is a little bit to their advantage but thats just me. Especially if your stock 3.23 aren't exactly coming out of the whole mothers like your need in the 1/8th

my best time with a set of nitto road racing tires (not dr's) with everything else stock was 8.363 @88.9 mph with a 1.988 60'. the timeslip is posted in this forum, should still be on this page. i dunno if thats really fast for a stocker ls1 or not, but its looking that way

I used to beat stock/mild bolt on LS1's a lot in my bolt on GTP (pump gas-high 13 sec car) on street tires at the local 1/8th track all the time.

I actually like 1/8th mile because the driver and suspension is a lot more important than at the 1/4.

Why would I lie? I have a faster car.

I think people don't understand that not every track is as nice as the ones they race at. Here in San Diego we don't have a great place to race. Traction is really bad, and I seem to always trap low at the 1/8mile track compared to the recently torn down carlsbad 1/4 mile.

I even beat one bolt on ls1 TA on ET streets in my GTP. Stockish ls1's pretty often run low 9's .. mid-high 8's ith pretty a good driver down at the 1/8 "track" down here. My GTP would run low low 9's on pump gas and higher 8's with race gas/more boost.

My 95 camaro with an LS1 ran low 8's at 90ish first time out which is kicking *** for where we race.

im not calling you a liar but even with a 2.2 60 foot time i was seeing 8.6 and 8.55 in the 1/8 at this shitty track in lakeland which they dont prep at all. i just dont think many ls1's could be running that slow out there but ill take your word for it. must have been fun beating up on them and watching their reactions... lol

13.2 is really fast for a stock fbody!! I've seen a 01 or so A4 that couldn't do better than 14.0 @ 100 or so in the 1/4. Most people don't run with what everyone sees on the internet. If you came down here and ran an 8.3 you would kick almost everyones *** lol.

It sure was fun beating up on people in a stone stock appearing 4 door car (still even have the stock catback on it). I don't know what it is down here, but cars just seem to run slow at the 1/8.. it's just a parking lot set up with portable timing gear really. It's more racing to compete against other drivers then getting good times. Better than not racing at all. Can't get great internet bragging rights, but oh well.

I need to get my new car down a good 1/4 because I was beating some of my buddies in their "built" cars running 8.0x with my car I built for about 3K.

I think part of it is the Sothern California Air and I am convinced the So Cal cars are detuned due to strict emissions and crappy gas. I was never able to pull better than a 13.7x@102.xx when it was stock. That was with a 2.0x 60' time.

The first time I took my car in for a tune we found out the max timing was set to 24 degrees.

I know the 2001 and 2002 cars have a tendancy to be a little faster than then 1998-2000 cars, but when I first joined this forum I could deffinately see that there were a lot of people in different parts of the country with the same year model a lot faster than I was.

In all my time at the track, I don't think i've ever seen an LS1 F-body that was confirmed to be stock run better than an 8.7 in the 1/8 and that is very rare. Most of them average 8.8-9.00.

Its probably not the car. Last time at the track I saw several cobras running 14's and I dont think thats suppose to happen.
I also saw some ls1's running high 13's. Mine run 8.35 1/8 and 13.3 1/4.

ok yet another example I just ran my car at Bradenton Speedway with only a Mti Lid, I mounted the stock F1's back on because the nitto 555RII Road Racing tires sucked ***, i pulled a 2.1 60 foot on the F1's and still Ran a 12.98@109.99 with just a set of BFG D/R ill be running 12.6's no problem. my car is a 6 speed but for just a lid i think 12.98@109.99 isnt bad at all, im beggining to think its some sorta factory freak...

we have must some good air here in Houston alot of stock f-body cars are seeing mid to hi 12's. I'm not looking at my time slip so I can't give 1/8 but I did go 12.741in the 1/4 and 1.7 60' @ 109mph in 00' z28 a4. This is with a lowered car leaving off idle with bald tires. this was with the stock air lid with k&n panel filter with MAC shorty headers and my old 98 t56 was turning 12.5's on radials ?????????

Your car was not stock doing that niether was anyone elses. If it was you should prove it and you would have the record.
headers = not stock
the previous record was 12.8 something and it was with a stick and stock down to the filter. Remember k&n filter makes it not stock.

Your right T, but its pretty close to stock. Can't blame me for trying. I pulled my time up from last Friday-12.783 1/4 @108.92 - .069 reaction time - 1.801 60' - 8.234 1/8 @ 85.93 mph - 1000' 10.711 .....

I would sure like to knock a few .10 off my times. I just don't want to ruin the reliabililty of a stock motor or make a money pit out of it.
